  1. Blizzards! I'm not too bad thanks, a lot has changed since I was last on here, new job, living in a different part of Leicester etc... I've actually got this week off work, booked it as part of my holiday allowance but I wish I had done it for next week now Have you moved to Falmouth for good? My guess is that you are coming back to stay with your family from the 15th December on wards for Christmas... I wouldn't like to be down there in Winter, I love my snow too much to put up with spending Winter in a place like Cornwall
  2. Gardening? *sits down and puts feet up* Ah, it's good to be back There's been a heck of a lot of rain around in the Midlands this week, looks like even more flooding is on the cards for the weekend. The event we're all waiting for is next week though...
  3. Morning everyone, well the GFS 00z this morning is a lot better for cold/snow lovers than yesterdays 00z! At the moment though anything beyond T96 is chopping and changing quite a lot on all the models, so nothing will be set in stone about next week until Sunday in my opinion. In my experience, the models don't usually handle Easterly's very well when they are forecast to be over 4 days away. They usually nail down the specifics of an Easterly within T72.
  4. Morning all! My first post here for a while! I have been keeping my eye on the cold potential on the models for around a week now, ever since a sniff of an Easterly started showing at around t300 :-D Despite the downbeat feeling this morning about the pesky shortwave, i think the bigger picture is good for cold and snow lovers. My motto is... As long as the blocking over Greenland is in place, anything can happen. I mean, this shortwave business is around t144 away. A lot can change in the space of a week with the models, the GEM and BOM look excellent this morning for the start of December.
  5. I have to admit... Having looked at the models over the last few days, I think Winter could be over now. I don't see a change from the mobile pattern over the next 7-10 days.
  6. I knew it mate, I could tell by the Net Weather 5 minute radar that it was still moving straight South and wouldn't turn SW until it had already passed us. Such a let down, I expected at least 5cm from that.
  7. If we finish our snow quota this Winter on that pathetic sugar dusting then I won't be happy. I thought Leicester would be right in the firing line but we missed out on about 3 inches of the stuff by about 30 miles, gutting.
  8. Well, we had a mere sugar dusting from that, I can't believe the models got the precip so far out at just t6, never seen all of them get it 100-200 miles out at that timeframe. NONE of them predicted that the main bulk of PPN would go down through East Anglia and the East Midlands, they all had it going through the central Midlands into West Midlands and then Wales. Anyway, here's my street about 20 minutes ago...
  9. Mate there isn't enough Westward movement in it to give us more than the dusting we have. It would have to move North West back up the M1 to give us anything decent!
  10. Game over for Leicester, Warwickshire, Coventry, Nottingham and Derby, mark my words.
  11. I guarantee this slides East past Leicester and Nottingham before it heads South West, if I was a betting man i'd put big money on it.
  12. Trust me mate, it's zoomed in on my post code on the Net Weather 5 minute radar and this is still heading straight South over the East Midlands, game over.
  13. This isn't pivoting for s***, it's still heading straight South on the radar *bangs head against wall*
  14. This is my reaction to the PPN not moving SW enough for Leicester... PIVOT YOU VICIOUS B******!!!
  15. Isn't it due to pivot and start moving W/SW when the Easterly winds dig in around midnight though?
  16. Snowing moderately here now, surfaces starting to get a dusting, still don't see it lasting long though, radar has the main bulk still to our East and slipping past, if it's going to pivot and move W/SW and hit Birmingham and Worcestershire it needs to make a drastic change and that's highly unlikely to happen
  17. I have NEVER seen the main models get it this wrong just 8 hours before the event, i've seen them get the PPN about 50 miles wrong but never 100-200 miles wrong. Amazing.
  18. I'm getting very worried now, it's STILL moving straight South, by the time it pivots it will have gone past Leicester Shocker, absolute shocker.
  19. I don't know what it's doing out there now, it sounds like rain but it's actually like ice pellets/graupel and it's settling on top of the bin  Can't believe there's a gap developing in the PPN as well, that seriously needs to start making a move West/South West otherwise it's curtains.
  20. I can confirm it's snowing here!! FINALLY! Why the heck is the heaviest PPN going to the EAST of Leicester/Nottingham though?! I thought that band would be moving W/SW by now but it's moving straight S by the looks of it. This was noooooooooot forecast
  21. Right, i'm off for a bit to kick some asses on Fifa ultimate team, i'll be back in about 30 mins and if it's not started snowing yet... I'll have a mental breakdown
  22. I don't think it can, the shield has been out of action for the last 3 months charging it's batteries and now it's on full power
  23. Is this some kind of cruel joke by the snow gods? Tamworth now has snow *20 miles to my West* Stratford Upon Avon has snow *about 50 miles to my South* Nottingham has snow *30 miles to my North*, Peterborough has snow *35 miles to my East, but still nothing falling from the sky here?!
  24. When is that bulk of precip in the North Sea/Lincoln going to finally start moving S/SW? It's still moving S/SE and it's beginning to go to the East of Leicester! This wasn't in the script surely.
