  1. Good ol Fernhurst! Lived at number 11 until June, we had to sell up as my Nan owned it and moved into a care home. I bet the road is actually impossible to drive up today. I'm not too far away from there now though, just next to Western Park. The snow is just relentless, there's been no let up since it started around 10am! If this carries on it will end up being a better event than Friday and Friday was a superb event.
  2. That just reminded me, took a picture this morning on my travels of a HUGE icicle, I don't know how well you'll be able to see it because it was still quite dark at the time but it's an absolute whopper, biggest i've ever seen in person.
  3. Uploaded it to the laptop and then to NetWeather. It's still coming down fast here, the road that was just pure water earlier is now covered in snow. I'm supposed to be going back out to work tonight to do 3 night calls at people's homes a few miles away. If this carries on at this intensity for another hour i'm going to have to ring my manager and ask if someone can cover my calls! It's going to be like a death wish riding a thin tyre road bike in this.
  4. Here's a pic I just took, it's not easy to see the flakes but it's the best I could do with my phone camera lol.
  5. Coming down fast isn't it? The flakes aren't big but they are coming down really quickly and it's now settling on wet surfaces.
  6. Yeah it's definitely picked up now, 5p size flakes here now and they are coming down at a fast rate. Looks like some moderate echos are over us on the radar.
  7. Been snowing here lightly/moderately since 10am now. Must be a fresh 1-2cm that has fell on top of the snow we already have on the ground. There hasn't been much of a thaw here at all really, the usual places have seen a thaw, roads, a little bit on pavements nearer the city etc... But up here a few miles West of Leicester City Centre we still have 7-10cm on some paths and on my front lawn we have around 10-12cm easy. Looking at the GFS precip charts, it looks like this event today could be longer lasting and better than it seemed yesterday. Looks like it only properly clears the area by midday tomorrow.
  8. They were quite bad last night but they are thawing out now. Either that or the gritters have been out. More snow is forecast tomorrow though.
  9. I wouldnt take any notice of it. I find those apps useless at times. Yesterday at 10am it said it was mostly cloudy with sunny spells here... It had been snowing moderately for 30 mins by that point.
  10. Still snowing now? That PPN that was over the South East/France has pretty much gone now.
  11. I dont mean to be a party pooper but that isn't coming anywhere near the East Midlands. Anyway I ought to go to bed, got to be up at 6:30am for bloody work. Absolutely dreading cycling around in this. I love snow but its going to be a nightmare tomorrow.
  12. Yep you were right fizzy :-) I can't understand how its coming down modetately and quickly even though there is only light PPN above us on the radar. Not that i'm complaining about it!! :-D
  13. Started snowing moderately again now! After a period of very light snow from 7:30pm till 10:45pm, we have now gone back to moderate stuff! This is amazing to be honest, its now been snowing over 12 hours straight here. I cycled to the shop about 9pm and the pavements were 8-10cm deep and the grass seemed around 12-15cm.
  14. I'm not sure but I would hazard a guess that it will pivot and edge slightly W/SW after 9pm.
  15. I'm getting very jammy with this band at the moment lol. It keeps looking like it's going to move North of Leicester but keeps building on the bottom edge about 10 miles south of Leicester, so it's keeping us under continuous light snow. If that PPN over Lincolnshire moves back inland a bit we could have snow for most of the night! Sunday is looking increasingly good as well.
  16. Do you know what this PPN is supposed to do as the evening wears on? From what I can tell, it is going to stick around the East Midlands and as the winds veer back E/SE the PPN that is over Lincolnshire and East Anglia will pivot and move slightly back Westwards again before fizzling out?
  17. Haha, it's awesome how many people there is in here that live around Western Park! The park looks beautiful, i'm really not looking forward to work tomorrow though, working this Weekend and I have to cycle around different houses in LE3 as a domiciliary carer. I might just walk but some of the calls are in Glenfield, Rowley Fields, Fosse Road North etc... All spread out and awkward
  18. That's going to cause havoc with the Leicester match tonight, i'm surprised it's still on, a lot of people won't be able to get to the game in time if they are coming from outside of Leicester! Oh, fair enough. Didn't expect us to get this much though.
  19. Yeah I know the red warning is for 20cm+ but surely if snow falls for 7 hours and counting with the rush hour at a stand still... That warrants a severe weather warning? My Girlfriend had to leave work at 2pm and even then on the way home from Coalville she skidded in the car at 10mph. Since 2pm we've had quite a bit more snow.
  20. Pushing 10cm fresh snowfall here today, That must be pushing a red warning surely? Especially as it's rush hour now and the traffic is at a standstill on the main road around the corner from me.
  21. Which part did you just walk down? I was just walking along there with my Girlfriend 10 mins ago, walked from the Leisure Centre to the Caravan centre then crossed the railway line, we might have passed you lol.
  22. Still absolutely gunning it down here! A pic I took of the back garden 10 mins ago...
  23. What i found amazing today, was the temperature actually dropping as the day wore on! When I checked the Braunstone Weather station at 7am this morning it said -0.9c. It now says -1.9c! So even though technically it's supposed to be the warmest part of the day, it's actually dropped a degree since 7am! It's going to be a cold one tonight that's for sure.
  24. I'm living up on Park Rise next to Western Park now mate and it's readily turning into the biggest snow event I have ever witnessed in Leicester ever. (I'm 24, born here and lived here all my life) It's absolutely teeming it down now, worse than it has done all day! If this does stick around all night and tomorrow like the forecast suggests... There could be some MASSIVE amounts here. Sunday looks like another big event on the models at the moment as well. I'm like an excited child Looking out the door and window every 5 minutes
  25. I've just cleared mine and my neighbours path and no word of a lie... There is 10cm+ on the grass. On the paths that I cleared there looked to be about 6-7cm and that's only what's fell since this morning! I can't believe how much we have got.
