  1. Can't believe how jammy we were with that heavy shower. According to the Net Weather radar, the heavy blob that came over Leicester was only around 6-8 miles wide and gave us a direct hit! Just nipped up the shop and the road is covered now, it was soaked earlier. Looks to be a fresh 2cm just from that shower. Could be a bit more lighter stuff coming over the next hour or 2, fingers crossed!
  2. Jeeeeeez! I can't remember the last time I saw snow this heavy, it's literally coming down in 50p size flakes!!
  3. Yep It's snowing well again! Looking at the radar it looks like we've got very lucky, a moderate band of snow is moving W/NW over Leicester.
  4. Wow, woke up this morning to a surprise dusting!
  5. Thaw here Temp is up to 0.9c with a dew of 0.8c, I actually hope no PPN does come here now, probably wouldn't be snow anyway!
  6. I've gotta be honest mate, the models are changing Friday/Saturday's forecasts every run. One run it's a snowfest, the next run it's flooding... I'm expecting it to be rain i'm afraid I'd love to be wrong though. Just can't see the Atlantic being held off enough for us to have another dumping of snow.
  7. Not seen a flake here even though the radar reckons we've had pulses of moderate stuff over us. Looks like for once this cold spell... Leicester's luck has ran out
  8. Aye, cmon Villa! I'm a Leicester fan so you wouldn't normally hear that from me but i've put £15 on Villa to win at full time and £5 on them to go into the next round. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 1-1, GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
  9. Oh no, it's one of those bands of snow that has phantom precip on the leading edge. That means that if it's not even reached Banbury yet when the radar says it is knocking on Leicester's doorstep... The actual band won't make it this far tonight.
  10. Bish I just posted about that on the East Midlands thread. GFS has definitely upgraded it for areas East of Brum on the 06z. Looks light anywhere East of Brum but it doesn't move that quickly so it may be quite prolonged. Areas like Shropshire, south Warwickshire and Oxfordshire could get a nice covering. 5cm+ is possible for lucky areas.
  11. The gfs is showing a band of snow reaching as far North as Leicester tonight, looks to be light on the Northern edge but areas like Northampton and Warwickshire may get another covering. Something to look out for!
  12. Not sure where it's coming from, as the radar is clear over my postcode... But it's been snizzling for about an hour now.
  13. Absolutely amazing here this morning, the snow is the deepest ive seen it in Leicester. I put one of those 15cm ruler's in the back garden before i left for work and it came upto 12-13cm but that wasnt even on the grass because we dont have any in the back!
  14. East Midlands today are always biased towards Nottingham because that's where they are based. Shouldn't be like that though!
  15. Still snowing here It started around 10am, over 12 hours continuous snow! It's mostly been light-moderate but it's still great to see such prolonged snowfall.
  16. I reckon we've had about 6-8cm out of today's snowfall. The radar accumulation over the last 12 hours suggests something around that as well.
  17. Not sure yet, there's so many low pressure systems skirting around the UK over the next 5 days that anything could happen.
  18. Just got back from my 3 evening calls, it is absolutely treacherous out there! Hinckley Road in Leicester, which is a main road... Is slushy/icy, earlier on today it was just purely water but because of the snowfall for the last 8 hours, it's now turned into a skating rink. For the past 2 hours it's been that fine dusty, snizzly snow that has been falling. That seems to be the best kind to settle on the roads though, the side streets are almost impassible, the snow has been compacted and I almost came off my bike about 10 times Just been across Western Park and the grass looks to have about 15cm on it, level snow! I can honestly say I have never seen that much snow depth in Leicester in all my 24 years. Truly amazing cold spell this has turned out to be, Leicester has been extremely jammy for snow this Winter!
  19. Some intensification now on the Northern edge of the band around The Wash. Looks good for Lincoln and East Nottinghamshire (Polar Low's territory) soon.
  20. They don't do they? Starting to fizzle out over Leicestershire with a gap opening up.
  21. Nope, the radar shows there is some more to our East which SHOULD make it's way towards us again within the next 30 mins. The band is definitely edging further North now but it's seriously slow progress.
  22. Slowed down to snizzle now which is a shame, still been a brilliant day though! Snow non-stop since 10am, almost 7 hours now. What is amazing me about this system is that it's not moving Northwards much at all. I didn't expect it to move East to West like it's been doing for most the day. I thought we'd maybe get 3 hours snowfall before it moved away North.
