  1. Looking quite convective today. Will be interesting to see if Dartmoor gets any sleet or snow and/or if any of the showers prove to be torrential with hail and/or thunder.
  2. Yay! Another day of potential! @Evening thunder, maybe another chase on the cards but this time less widespread? LOL!
  3. Really looking forward to the convective opportunites for my area of the woods next week. There's quite a good amount of instability showing for Monday as well as Wednesday when areas of heavy and thundery rain move up the continent. Could be interesting.
  4. What I'm really surprised is how early this Spring is. It could be the earliest Spring on record if this carries on.
  5. Yeah, we had two showers today both containing heavy rain and hail here!
  6. So unlucky! If only that setup had occured yesterday, then that would have been a good chase!
  7. Just had a short moderate rain shower with a bright rainbow to the east here.
  8. As MP-R has pointed out, I was quite shocked that there was no lightning anywhere in the SW of England today. I'm not sure went wrong with all of the forecasts...
  9. Just got home. Unfortunately didn't get any thunder but went through lots of heavy showers. As a reward, I saw some beautiful Cumulonimbus clouds on the way back from Plymouth!
  10. Currently in NW Devon. Lots of convection and showers but no thunder, yet.
  11. Hello everyone! We've had quite a few heavy downpours here this morning but no thunder as of yet! I'm about to go out storm chasing with Evening thunder! We're thinking about heading NW towards Tiverton, Devon, so let's hope we catch something!
  12. The showers to my SSW are now starting to beef up a bit, still no sferics from them yet but time will tell!
  13. I bet you thought about me when writing that post. LOL. Looks like both of the thunderstorms are still going which is awesome! One is now smashing into Sevenoaks and the other one heading towards Maidstone!
  14. It's all too far west! Why can't those cells to my SSW get going! Grrrr!
  15. Yes, ignition to my SSW recently but it's died out now. Looks like Newhaven is getting wrecked.
  16. Day 2 Convective Outlook VALID 06:00 UTC Mon 04 Apr 2016 - 05:59 UTC Tue 05 Apr 2016 ISSUED 16:13 UTC Sun 03 Apr 2016 ISSUED BY: Dan Upper trough will slowly migrate eastwards across British Isles/France on Monday, while sharpening and extending down to Iberia. The associated cold mid-levels combined with diurnal heating will generate 300-400 Jkg-1 CAPE, with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms developing, particularly focussed along convergence zones (one such notable feature likely along the length of the southwest peninsula, this whole line drifting slowly eastwards with time). Hence some parts within the broad low-end SLGT may stay completely shower-free, while others may experience shower-training and multiple heavy downpours. Hail up to 1.5cm in diameter is possible from any stronger cells, and perhaps some local surface water issues given locally prolonged downpours.
  17. Probably, but to say the largest thunderstorm is west of that band, then maybe not...
  18. Ok, Altocumulus Castellanus cloud to our east now as well as big drops falling!
