  1. Can't do that on my tablet. The abbreviations are still abbreviated. Lol if you get what I mean.
  2. No this is in Tonbridge. But the flats along Hart Street near the river were effected. The car parks flooded and will do so again on Friday we think. My son in laws sister lives in those flats she is above the car park and was not effected and was able to get in this morning. The road past the Odeon is open now. If he left a car in the car park then he will need to empty it out of water. Sorry. The link i posted will show you what went on.
  3. http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2013-12-25/floodinghitskent/ This is what my town looked like xmas day after the rain. Will look like this Friday eve too. Town more or less cut in 2 with the flooding. I do not want anymore. This is my daughters car park in Tonbridge. By Friday eve she will not be able to get into her flat or out depending where she ends up.
  4. Is there anybody in Tonbridge who can update me on the flooding my daughter has a flat in cannons wharf in wharf road and she needs to get home to empty her bucket because she has a leak in her roof too. Thanks.
  5. I agree this is nothing compared to 87. That was scary times I had a ragstone wall fall over in that wind that night.
  6. I have watched the pressure drop from 984 to 981 in an hour. I am in a dip and do not seem to get the really bad gusts highest so far for me is 43.2 mph
  7. Very windy here too I can't sleep keep hearing things moving around the garden. Was it supposed to be this windy down here?
  8. I have had flu. Cough still with me 3 weeks after i first fell ill. Listening to xmas songs on computer at the mo reading post. Dull outside now started nice and sunny now looks as if it is going to rain wind has picked up too. Here's hoping some of the charts are right (in my dreams lol) and the weather is going to cool off with some white stuff in the forecast but poss not for me here in my neck of the woods. But i am hopeful that the new year will bring a good lot of the stuff for me lol.
  9. afternoon all My hubby bought me an Iron one year as a present never used it lol. Dull grey here had drizzle earlier too. 8 deg but feels colder. Have a good day
  10. Morning all. Bjay sorry to hear about Pepper. I will be a mess when my dog dies. I have been suffering from flu and feel pants. Looking at the charts and comments made I am hopeful we will see an end to this dull dross soon. In the summer the news had a feature about a man who had written books about old weather law and he had written to the queen to predict her jubilee weather for the pageant on the river a month before it happened and supposedly got the weather right. Anyway he predicted that there would be snow on the ground boxing day and we would still have snow on the ground at easter. It will be interesting to see if he was right. He based his prediction totally on weather law sayings passed down from generation to generation. Off to dose up on flu tabs now and sleep catch you all later have a good day.
  11. Did you notice the Express quotes a source from netweather.?Lol
  12. I have had my wood burner going since last weds. Not put the heating on since then wood burner heats whole house. Free wood from the garden as well down side i am running out of trees to chop down lol. Have small coppice in garden so will start on that for next year.
  13. Morning all. Well damp and dreary here today much like yesterday. So looking forward to this cold snap and some brighter days than I have had of late. Off to get wet walking the dog, have a good day.
  14. Raining here today too. Got son in laws shed to fix this weekend hoping not to get too wet putting it back upright. Happy Haloween all.
  15. Here here AS John's input here is very informative and helpful to many of us.
  16. Here is a radar grab of the winds now from Net Weather Extra NNM wind gusts overlay used
  17. Medway is another one it is in Kent but gets its own mention in met-office warnings
  18. I agree with you ukpaul. I was living in an old house when the 87 storm hit lost ridge tiles a rag stone garden wall and my curtains i had hung out to dry lol. Having looked at the charts posted I am going to make sure that i take all precautions with this storm once bitten twice shy. I personally hope that the models are wrong and it downgrades.

The lag effect between the wind getting up and the sea increasing should be borne in mind. To convert knots to mph multiply by 1.15, for m/s multiply by 0.514. Max of 55 knots X by 1.15 = 63.25 mph As per Met office Uk Paul quotes the rest from wiki FYI I have found this topic very useful as i live in Kent lol
  20. I recorded 36mm of rain from Friday night to 1pm today if that helps.
  21. We don't get them here contrary to popular belief. I have had 1 storm this year and heard a few rumbles before the last storm and that is it. The SE is a big area and my area of it is sadly lacking in storms.
  22. Went for a storm chase along M20 towards Folkestone am now at Ashford. Still raining but bright skies no thunder or lightening. Not as bad as forecast
  23. sun back out now not enough rain to even make the ground wet
