  1. Hailstones and ice pellets falling here at present.
  2. Cold but fine today with increasing cloud amounts later... sun out already but frosty to start. Rain overnight from the west with bits of sleet/snow mixed in over higher ground, as we head through wednesday it may change more to snow lower down as it moves away?! Mild weekend still on the cards with temps in double figures maybe.
  3. Showers now showing signs of fading away back to coast with north york moors seeing most of them into afternoon.
  4. why is predicting where showers will form, flow and fall seem to be so hard to predict sometime? showers this morning are becoming more widespread down eastern side of A1... although don't think they will for much longer. Heavy snow imby again now
  5. Your location sweet for next hour or so if you look at radar and the line of showers moving down from the north. For me, i'm just to the west of that line of showers (just fleeting snow so far)
  6. If only wind had more of a northeastly element to it this morning Light snow shower here now
  7. Morning, well i must admit i was expecting abit more in the way of showers over past 24 hours. Some places did see way more than others (esp northumberland and north york moors) Had a few hefty snow showers before midnight which gave a light covering here. As for week ahead, starting today with a scattering of snow showers to start down the east coastal areas with these becoming less wintry during the day. then a very cold frosty night leading into a lovely winters day tomorrow with plenty of sunshine. Wednesday is looking messy with a band of rain spreading slowly across the region and may become stalled with sleet/snow mixed in... again mainly high ground or on back edge as colder air mixes in... worth a watch for now. End of week the jet stream ramps up again so atlantic controls the weather into the weekend with mainly westerly winds. Weekend looking pretty mild both by day and more so at night.
  8. It is yes, and that will enhance the showers for time around midnight... so still hope yet for more snow. I am also a little dissapointed today with lack of showers imby!
  9. Well that was a nice hefty snow shower, slight cover too. hopefully with night fall upon us and temp dropping any more will produce a covering by morning... More please!!!
  10. few hail showers on and off so far today here, shower activity certain to increase into the evening and over night... not every where will see as much as others so radar watching it is for next 24hrs lol
  11. Glad to see the coast getting snow, very rare past few winters lol Showers becoming organised into bands, so if your either side of these its a nice winters day as @Summer Sun has just said
  12. As i expected, updated warning Issued at: 1045 on Sun 14 Feb 2016 Valid from: 1055 on Sun 14 Feb 2016 Valid to: 1200 on Mon 15 Feb 2016 Warning: Showers of sleet and snow are likely at times during Sunday and overnight into Monday when they will also affect some southeastern parts of England, although the showers here will generally be a mix of sleet and hail near coasts. Accumulations of 0-2 cm of snow are likely in places at low levels, but locally 2-5 cm over hills and where showers become aligned in bands in the northeasterly flow. Ice will be an additional hazard overnight, particularly after showers. Please be aware of the potential for difficult travelling conditions. This warning has been updated to extend the end time until midday on Monday, whilst also extending the warning area southwards across some central and eastern parts of England, chiefly for late Sunday evening onwards. Chief Forecaster's assessment The colder airmass already established across Scotland and the north of England will continue south to affect most other parts by Sunday evening. Showers will feed in on the north to northeasterly winds, particularly affecting the more northern and eastern parts of Scotland, along with northern England during Sunday daytime, but progressing further south into the north and east Midlands along with parts of east and southeast England during Sunday evening and overnight into Monday. Not everywhere will see the snow showers, but some may become aligned in bands from time to time, leading to the risk of some moderate accumulations of snow, most likely over northern Scotland and northeast England. Ice will also be a hazard on untreated surfaces, particularly between showers overnight, with those areas just inland from the coasts of eastern and southeast England at particular risk as the showers will fall as a wintry mix. Local Authorities affected: Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland
  13. Waiting for met to issue warning for the region today/overnight... be suprised if they didn't. Light hail here now.
  14. Morning, Think today will be a better day for snow showers... already pushing in from north sea and with colder air now in place and more north/north easterly flow pushing showers further inland (coastal areas will see a wintry mix) Showers should become more frequent later today into the night period, when i expect a suprise covering for some in to monday morning... Euro 4 model shows this nicely
  15. showers really pepping up now from north sea, had a few hail showers now and each one gets heavier
  16. A good 10 plus strikes around consett area showing up on here... http://en.blitzortung.org/live_dynamic_maps.php?map=10
  17. heavy sleet here now, mixture of rain, hail and some decent flakes... if showers persit into the night then im sure some places west of A1 will see a covering by morning... we shall see
  18. Probably they are a wintry mix of sleet/rain and most levels, especially near the coasts... hence not many people on here so far. I expect it will be the overnight period when the showers turn more to snow, wherever they may be lol
  19. Morning all, well let the fun begin with regards to who gets any snow or sleet and rain over next 48hrs. Whats people's thoughts? cloudy and damp here this morning.
  20. Looking good for snow later weekend, escpecially sunday. weather warning issued by met aswell, expect it to be updated tomorrow though to fine tune details.
  21. In regards to the cooling trend in temps this week and possible wintry weather... The weekend into monday is worth a watch as cold air will be in place and with a low tracking over us and transfering to the north sea and us possibly on northern edge i suspect some snow possible almost any where and as it clears cold air really kicks in with wintry showers before pressure builds briefly. Until then some dry but chilly days with a few showers, wintry on high ground. Unfortunitly no prolonged cold spell in sight.
  22. Sometimes, your own smell the best. storm henry tomorrow into tuesday the next talking point for our region... winds probably stronger than storm just gone.
