  1. rain slowly approaching here now, wet night ahead and as the air turns colder from the east I expect it to turn wintry here and on high ground. Metoffice app showing sleet / snow for my area tomorrow morning as the rain pushes back west then again tomorrow night into Saturday. raw cold feel to things over weekend into next week, so much for spring warmth and high pressure sitting over uk many people were banging on about!
  2. what a difference a day makes... mostly sunny all day with temps nearly reaching 10.c so felt pleasant in the sun when sheltered from the breeze. chilly night ahead with a touch of frost
  3. cold, wet and windy at the moment with temps only around 5.c least I get an early finish from work cause of the wet weather
  4. This wind starting to annoy me now, seems every day for a while now been quite windy which of course makes it feel cooler than it actually is... therefor these warm days predicted aren't noticeable up in the northeast, especially with all this cloud around. Temps look like cooling off in to next week with no sign of temps reaching double figures IMBY that is. Also could we be in for one last cold spell mid month? some signs emerging in models. The south have got temps in the mid teens currently few 16 degrees popping up now.
  5. bright and breezy day today, still chilly in that pesky wind though. seen a few daffs today, sign of spring solar eclipse on 20th so lets hope high pressure stays near by to give some clear skies for a good view. looking rather cloudy over next few days and still breezy, but no frost and temps into double figures in brighter spells
  6. well another heavy snow shower here this morning which gave a good covering at about 6.30am, most has melted now apart from some well shaded areas. actually seen more snow in the past few days here than most of this winter put together. As for temperatures this weekend into next, i really cant see anything very mild for us up here, met and beeb not predicting much above 11 - 12c and thats only this weekend then cooling off to average. However if we get plenty sun then the east of pennines may see some very pleasant temps... we shall see
  7. snow from earlier today... around 3pm
  8. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/dwowlhehjyvxzv3/AAD6HZkCQhjHfwA9glwEIvV6a is there another way to get images on here, tried adding the link in image thing but wouldn't work
  9. cheers... used dropbox instead as forgot i had an account.
  10. Took some pics but dont know how to upload them on here Help anyone
  11. windy and bitter in that wind, just finished work... so pleased. starting to snow again here as the showers pass by and fade. all the morning snow now gone though still snowing heavily, grass areas covered plus roofs, trees etc..
  12. cold wintry morning, heavy snow showers at present and settling easly here. very nice to watch as i drink my morning coffee this morning
  13. Is it actually snow though, find that type of chart miss leading sometimes. however met office forecast seems to be wrong again for today, no mention of that low bringing persistent afternoon rain, which it has been for past our now with grey skys here.
  14. heavy rain/sleet i expect, snow on high ground above 250m possibly. wet snow lower in heavier bursts..
  15. Thank you for your reply, i remember when they use to issue those warnings and agree they were not very precise.... still think a time will come when the warnings will get more localised for a specific area with a more detailed warning area style map (maybe zoom in to see an area under a warning, show specific places in that area that are most likely to be affected) As i would say nearly every snow warning this winter for my area has been of no use as it has either not snowed or if it did was not severe enough to warren a warning. I'm no expert of course and know how difficult predicting the weather can be.
  16. question regarding the current met office warnings... do you think in the future weather warnings will become more local, as in more detail per county especially in winter when it concerns snow? as many yellow warning get issued and cover certain regions but many lower lying areas see no snow what so ever and can by very frustrating to say the least. I know the text within the warning gives more detail but many people don't know the elevation of where they live and if they will be affected or not?
  17. well another weird day, some places having snow where you didn't expect then places you expect had not so much... here today its been cold with rain mixed with sleet, then sleet/wet snow, then back to rain, then hail and sleet and now rain with odd snow flake mixed in during heavier bursts. Hopefully tomorrow may bring some potent shower of hail and snow to some depending where these align from west to east
  18. Oh yeah, i meant shorter... just so frustrated at the moment. don't think we will get any snow tonight apart from the N york moors
  19. i know its only beginning of feb but after the past weeks snow attempts that have failed for many of us i'm giving up on this winter now, roll on next winter! yes we can still get decent snow/cold spells in march and a few snow days in april, but with the nights getting longer and sun stronger by then it never lasts long... cant see anything happening this month to change my mind either. yes i have seen more snow falling from the sky this winter but the fact its all melted by lunchtime and back to square one just doesn't do it for me
  20. just looked outside to the east looking towards chester-le-street out to penshaw monument and can see the snow clouds and white sheets of snow falling from sky
  21. another day, another night watching showers out at sea struggle to make it inland to our patch, whilst others are more lucky. Having said this I think a few may pop up anywhere overnight and tomorrow before a more potent batch rolls in during wednesday
  22. As expected, nothing much came of last night... another weather warning issued for nothing! bit slushy snow in early hours. bone dry today and tomorrow for most, then Monday night into Tuesday things may get interesting... I hope
