  1. Is this up and coming cold spell on or off Trying to find a forecast on here rather than using the BBC. BBC say cold weather with snow showers in the north and east later next week Not seen a post on here yet suggesting that . Can someone point me in the right direction please thanks in advance for your time.
  2. I don't think I'm on the same wavelength I'm struggling to see snow GFS 18z for next Tuesday looks wet and cool . I aren't getting excited about that. It's more of a westerly flow next week isn't it.. As I say . I'm sure someone will put me right if I'm wrong ..
  3. It's getting a bit messy this thread tonight. I'm struggling to understand some of the posts and relevance A picture of a chart with a 2 word description that's not helping me and others understand And the handbag swinging .
  4. Just woke up after too many Stella's last night I went out with the 18z. And ended up back at mine . Nothing went on I'm married. Nice to see the 00z showing colder weather granted it's 10 days. Less cold weather before that though as the high slips east. Drawing a milder westerly air flow . I think by the 10th most of the UK will be seeing some snow showers. Mainly the North. East and south Eastern areas seeing the frequency of the showers.
  5. Tonight's 18z spins up this. But before this at T+240 hrs or 10 days We may have to encounter a cool westerly air flow . Maybe we could have a fair bit of cold snowy weather Or maybe a westerly flow for a bit longer I'd put this months wage on a cold snowy outlook. Massive model and data watching coming up
  6. That's covered just about every eventuality. Good post and a interesting read.
  7. I think a Hunt for cold thread is a good idea... I think if there's a Hunt for mild thread They'd only be Darren Betts that would post on it....
  8. Chance of freezing Fog next week Water droplets landing on frozen surfaces. I love seeing frozen tree branches. Suits me .far better than mild cloudy drizzle imo. Or heavy rain on saturated ground.
  9. Good morning everyone. I'm in need of a bit of help. For a while now I've wondered why high pressures that build over Greenland and Scandinavia. Always want to move south unless they are above 1048mb And low pressures are more likely further north and more dominant further north than say over Spain or Greece. Here's an example below taken from today's 06z GFS. Thanks for any advice or a link to help me understand Regards Steve sorepaw.
  10. Next weekend potential for some wintery conditions more of a northerly wind. Below average temps. Eastern areas seeing frequent showers Winter tyres on in preparation.
  11. Let's either have it very cold and foggy or moderate snow showers. Or very mild and sunny. Not cool and rain and cloudy Here there has not been one dry day for 23 days now. My land needs drainage work now I love cold snowy days up here. And even the hardest coldie. Must admit unseasonably mild sunny weather is better than cool wet cloudy days . I've known some epic snowfalls come after a very mild spell 1995. For one
  12. I'm wanting some dry mild south westerly winds now to dry my land out Sick of this cool wet weather. I'd rather it be mild and sunny tbh Then our average winter weather in February
  13. Hi Jo thanks for the update it's been a while since we chatted. I'm still up here in north Yorkshire rain all day with sleet and snow for good measure. Things maybe set to get colder again by next weekend or heading that way. Take care Steve Goatland North Yorkshire .
  14. According to the latest rainfall radar. On the website www.raintoday.co.uk Sheffield looks like its getting its fair share of heavy rain. As is much of west and south Yorkshire.
  15. T+126 hrs no respite for the flooding issues . Maybe something wintry from this too And yes more rain. All very unstable going forward I'm going day by day and no more than T+126 hrs. And that's pushing it. Currently my car has a frozen windscreen as the sun has gone down Expecting a bit of wintry mix throughout the night as showers move east. All in all . Chins up .best November chart watching in years for me.
  16. Wet snow falling here brisk cold wind. I live Remote North Yorkshire 436ft I've lived here over 30 years I can only remember snow in 2010 in November and that was the 30th. Very early snow for early November Is it me or are charts now to unpredictable I remember charts such as gfs been quite reliable 12 years ago. Up to T+240hrs.
  17. I just got back from Sheffield yesterday in time before the flooding took control M1 north was horrendous. Up here in North Yorkshire looking forward to next Thursday's snow potential. My Subaru forester is ready too go too.
  18. GFS T+192 looks dangerous tbh for the uk violent winds and widespread rain sleet and snow .
  19. Good Afternoon all I have what I think a very interesting observation. I've just been into my kitchen to make a brew and in my garden I have a evergreen berry bush. And there I noticed a black bird eating the berries like it was it's last meal I've lived here over 30 years and never seen such activity in late October Are the black birds picking up on something. The 06z is interesting showing the possibility of much colder air Before we get there.. problematic rain could be an issue for already flood hit areas
  20. I think November we are likely to see more harsh frosts especially going by the GFS 06z.
  21. 12z looking interesting. A slice of early wintery conditions possible 1040mb high. Not to be sniffed at.
