  1. Why is it so warm in Liverpool? Noticed the past few days its been a couple of degrees higher there than a lot of other areas in the NW of England. Very odd to see Liverpool nearly equal to London during hot weather I always thought Liverpool was a cool place
  2. Scorchio weather on 18z, Not seen GFS churn out so many runs on the trot that are full of so much red crayon on the temperature charts since 2018.
  3. It wasn't a forgotten heatwave, it was all part of a major heatwave affecting the whole of Europe thanks to High pressure blocking since June 2003 France was hit hardest, I think a similar heatwave affected the whole Europe in 2006 and not just France
  4. What another dazzling GFS run, Its like the umpteenth time its churned out something like this in recent days. Are we onto something this summer time?
  5. And it ends with a nice big blob of cold green snot dangling right over everyones heads.
  6. If people want a breakdown then so be it. We all have weather preferences. But there is no breakdown in the GFS 6z its a dream, just wall to wall blue skies throughout
  7. 18Z looks like the Scandi and Azores are about to link up but it fails miserably right at the last minute , theres always one spanner from somewhere that has to come along and mess things up.
  8. Only 17C here and very cloudy, Not a single break in the cloud with any glimpse of blue sky viewing through. But not to worry our first 20C of the year is due tomorrow
  9. Weren't those years drought years and following on from dry winters?
  10. Early summer warm spells like the one coming up are always very bad curses for the upcoming season so don't be fooled by it. Bear in mind that 2012, 2016 and 2017 had similar spells in the late spring/early summer period that lead to very poor Junes and a rubbish summer overall.
  11. I think it happened in June 2019 but a combination of North sea winds and it being too early in the year meant we missed out on high surface temperatures despite record breaking 850s over Britain
  12. I wouldnt worry about it. Looks like them highs could easily squeeze it away.
  13. Model watching is also like a box of chocolates - mostly full of empty wrappers and sweets that nobody wants because somebody else got there first and took all the good ones.
  14. July 2013 should've been much hotter with all the HP slap bang over the top of UK, it was even the middle of the peak summer month and yet barely anywhere else outside London got over 30C. Could that have been a result of a cold spring and low SSTs?
  15. I had a nightmare last night that summer '21 was the worst in any living memory, probably triple worst of 2012. Then I woke up and checked the charts and i instantly got that gut feeling that my nightmares are about to come true. I think this May will be the wettest on record and coldest in nearly 40 years as some news outlets are reporting.
  16. Ladies and Gentlemen, hands together and a round of applause as i introduce you to......................1st day of Summertime 2021
  17. I dont think a below average April and May is enough to call it a reversal of global warming. Your going to need to look at 500 years or more of data spanning back 500 years. A few months with a blocking High over Greenland proves nothing lol
  18. I Yes, the past two summers proved that 35C plus can just creep out of the blue even when charts are looking like a horror show.
  19. BBC month ahead forecast is still looking about as worst as it can get. Nothing else to offer but a cool, unsettled start to meteorological summer and probably lasting all month too "The strongest signals are coming from the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean temperature anomalies and Indian Ocean rainfall patterns. These weather pattern support a cooler than normal June with high pressure often being a feature west of Europe. We expect we may see high pressure rebuild to the west towards mid-June, bringing another shot of colder Atlantic air and some unsettled weather."
  20. I wonder if this year will be one of them summers where 30C isn't reached? Maybe 25C wont be touched this year at the current rate.
  21. I do hope those pining for "a bit of" or "some" rain a few week ago are happy with what they wished for. "we need some rain, we need some rain, a bit of rain will do us good, farmers wont be happy so let it rain" were once the cries in here. Just scroll back a few pages its all there.
  22. Anything can happen during Summer at very short notice. 2019 and 2020 saw just this with record breaking heatwaves creeping out of nowhere
  23. While we are all looking forward to seeing some brutal thunderstorms in the sky this summer, RIP to the 9 year old boy killed today in Blackpool from a lightning strike. BBC News - Blackpool boy, 9, killed in lightning strike on playing field https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-57080526
  24. If the normal place for the jet stream is North then why is it always South during summer? Surely its acceptable enough to say that is its normal place during summer is South. Strange to think during 2018 the jet stream made its 20 yearly visit to its "Normal place" which is North of UK...
