  1. gfs 12z is a nice upgrade on recent runs, very hot in france 40c for most of next week and 33c possible for most of England. Looks like its onto something big here, another 2003 perhaps?
  2. gfs 18z switches on the heatwave from next weekend until Wednesday, temps hovering in the low 30s for many. Prepare for some very hot and muggy night times.
  3. Good gfs charts lately!! Just what us heat lovers want, a classic August heat wave to put summer back into the word August. This could be one of the best Augusts in years if it comes off.
  4. Normally this time of year there are about two moths per night that come into my house, ive noticed this summer (and last summer) ive not seen them as frequently as my cat hoped. Could this be weather related? Or are they just not breeding anymore? My poor feline cat all she does is sits at the window totally bored because theres no moths to chase.
  5. This mornings gfs 06z has its eyes on a few hot days as we enter August. Temps reaching 30c in the South then the heat extending further North.
  6. Feb 1991, it snowed non-stop for a whole weekend and I got most of the following week off school
  7. I had a sense of some 'punishment' weather coming up for the recent stealing of a days worth of Spanish climate
  8. any word on last nights warmth? Did we beat the August 1990 record as a few places were still around 25c at 3.00am
  9. Manchester city centre must be at least 28c still. Just walked out of a lovely air conditioned sainsburys and it was totally roasting when came out.
  10. Piccadilly Manchester is 28c and its only 11.30am!!! I reckon another 5 degrees is possible at this rate.
  11. Well fingers crossed the azores will build much further North than the 00z is showing, this time last week the gfs for today was only showing mid 20's for the South and look how it evolved.
  12. Merry heatwave day folks!! Hope Swelter Claus brings you the temps you wanted. Feeling so like July 19th 2006 this morning.
  13. Windows 10 weather app really looks undercooked and its done so all day. Don't know why bother using it, today was hotter in Sheffield at 28c than it will be tomorrow (27c) and Manchester going at 28c tomorrow when beeb are showing 31c. .
  14. I'm surprised theres no heat health warnings being issued since there are three days of 30c looking likely.
  15. That gfs for Monday and Tuesday just keeps on getting hotter with each run, Now Wednesday seems to be shaping up to be another hot day. At this rate its possible that 34c might be touched in the South on Tuesday, with a good 30c elsewhere. Bear in mind that four days before the 1st July 2015 we were only looking at 31c for that day.
  16. There was a lot of hype from these big "weather boffins" that this summer would be a decent one and I think this just drove our expectations too high. Yes id say its el nino/la nina related. We were told in January that due to the strong el nino that weather records will be broken well into the year, people were thinking because its summer it will be record breaking heat and sunshine all round... the records broken so far are June being the miserable and cloudiest according to the met office and August is set to be the windiest and wettest.
  17. wow 18z is the hottest run ive seen this year, definitely entering heatwave territory. Go home 18z your drunk!!
  18. It looks very hot in Spain and Portugal on them gfs 06z charts. If this evolving of the pattern continues then August could bring some very hot and humid conditions here, hopefully not just for London as I'm fed up with this North/South divide every summer its like a sickness.
  19. I really think the met office should split into two, one for the North and one for the South. Its becoming like two different climates between London and Manchester these days, never used to see this silly North/South divide - Look at August 1990 or July 2006, Manchester hitting on 35c. These days we rarely see 30c.
  20. Well half way through summer and its not yet even began. Its getting frustrating, even Summer 2012 went from its worst to very good in the middle of July. Still plenty of time for a major pattern change.
  21. Good to wake up today and see the GFS 0z has flip flopped out of the horror zone and back onto the summer track for next week with 25c for England . Even the beeb had 'heat on hold' so they must've known it was coming anyway.
  22. There is nothing ridiculous about laying down what I think about british summers. I also recall some days shortly after the summery beginning of June which charts were showing a full week of warmth that didn't come off, and yet how many times have we seen this in the models before? So just because I choose not to be enthusiastic or positive over one model op isn't being ridiculous. - Summer 2016 deserves more than snap judgments and I think its safe to say this years wont go down as being one of the sunniest summers on record
  23. gfs 12z loses all the heat but temps are pleasant enough for t-shirts and ice cream for most of England for next weekend and into the following week...why do I foresee next weeks plume quickly eroding away? just a matter of time before that gfs and ecm 'horror show'
  24. gfs 12z is looking hot next weekend as we get a taste of the Continental climate and into the following week too. Still plenty of time for it to evolve into something better, I will contain any excitement for a few more runs as most of the heat will probably end up being shunted off eastwards . The Azores HP cant give up though I just hope it keeps on nudging northwards until it pushes the current pattern out of place.
