I think you got confused with the August 1990 hot spell: August 4 1990 - 37.1 at Cheltenham July 1st 2015 - 36.7 at Heathrow, -

This chart looks like a real classic summer setting up, HP in scandi with the azores creeping in from the SW. Looks like next week we could be touching 30C in May for the first time since a while. -

Brilliant charts but just watch it all erode away until we're left with 22/23C in the far south east for just one day only. -

"According to long-range forecasts, the UK is set for a series of tepid and unsettled conditions throughout the coming summer months" What a load of freshly dropped tosh that is, id certainly take their 'summery' with a pinch of what they put on fries. Scaremongering springs to mind. A lot of the long range are already pointing to warm and dry conditions. -

The most recent poor summer was last year. By the 2nd week of July it was looking like a total write off, not a single 25C in sight until that sudden one hot day. Things then improved for the SE and a most parts had a decent August -

Here they come, the mathematical climate wizards using maths to figure out when the next poor summer will be. The climate isn't based on maths. It doesn't operate on 2's and 7's or any figure. If that was possible I'm sure we could work out the next 200 years in just a few taps on a calculator. -

South Europe is expected to be very hot this summer. I wonder if we can get a decent Southern wind in late July we could see a week long of above 30C temperatures similar to 2003, a slack LP stalling out west?? Been very dry this winter/spring so in any heat wave temperatures could be raised a couple of degrees. -

I think they're over cooking for the South at 25C, and under cooking it for the North with 15C. -

Yes June started good last year especially for us Northerners. It was a weekend wonder at the start of June before it all went Pete Tong. Ive noticed heatwaves in the past three years have all been squashed down into single one day wonders (July 19th 2014, July 1st 2015 & July 19th 2017) Hopefully in June we will see a good splat of HP plonked right on top of us lasting for a week or six.
