  1. Has April Fools day come early this year? Flood warnings on the BBC website while under a good ridge of High Pressure.......
  2. Theres is nothing happening in the stratosphere suggesting a 2007 style summer right now. . Bear in mind that 2007 had knock on effects from the previous warm summer, note very warm SSTs earlier than usual so sea evaporations were faster during this period and also atmospheric pressure zones were changed leading to a stronger jet and different wind directions over Europe. The winter of 2006/7 was warmer than average too.
  3. Todays bbc weather for the week ahead looks confident of a good build of High pressure for the bulk of the UK next weekend and into the following week. This time its London and the south east remaining wet and windy for once!!
  4. If the Azores can keep up the pushing and pulling inwards id say 20c before the month is out, maybe 22 or 23 if lucky enough. on the subject of this is there anywhere I can look to see day by day max temps in past years?
  5. Buy a fan. Its like complaining in mid-winter that its too cold at night but you don't want to switch on the heating
  6. June 2015 is a month i'd like to forget , it belongs in the paper shredder along with June 2007, 2012 and June 2016
  7. Looks like March is going to be a mild and wet month, is this a bad omen of things to come? Awful Summers always seem to follow a wet March
  8. You get a 35C "hot snap" in mid-September 2016 with a weakening sun dipping over the equator so why shouldn't the opposite happen? Never under-estimate our climate.
  9. I predict in two weeks we'll be seeing the first "prepare for a 3 month heatwave" headlines of the year
  10. We are actually long overdue one of them dreaded summers with something prolonged and extreme. I am confident enough that there will be another 2003 or 2006 in the next five years. Exciting times ahead
  11. I wouldn't count on any cold spell delivering the full fruit you'd expect to see mid-January. The sun is far too strong and too near to our side of the equator.
  12. I do hope this upcoming rainy period will just be just a blink and miss event, after all didn't 1995 and 2006 see some rainy blips in early Spring?
  13. Well It looks like its payback time for the dry winter we've had. Lot of dry ground about to go soggy if these runs come off.
  14. BBC tonight hints the blocked pattern returning as we head into March offering High Pressure in charge.
  15. Ive noticed all the papers are getting over excited at next weeks mild blip - using pictures of people lay on the grass sunbathing half naked with the word "hotter" in their headlines, seriously do they think its mid-July?? And some of the facebook comments make me LOL , all the sheep are commenting "wow, its barbecues all round cant wait"
  16. Some unusually warm daytimes to look forward to in the upcoming days. Should feel rather pleasant in any sunshine, I wont be surprised if we can touch the first 20c of the year before the month is out.
  17. Some of the moans here are appalling, writing off winter and its only Feb 10th and yet theres still loads of cold in Europe not really going anywhere yet . And to think of it there has been loads of cold and snow this winter in the NH, only the cold air just didn't make it as far west as we wanted it, nothing poor about that. But lets look forward to what a 'poor' dry snowless winter means for spring and summer, are we are in a solar minimum?
  18. A little step back in the models this evening with any cold being confined to Scotland and along the North East coast. Elsewhere is likely to be seeing sleet showers rather than snow.
  19. Looks like its only for Scotland and the far North. Theres nothing in there for Midlands or SE
  20. Indeed they have and they told me if you need any straw this spring theres plenty of dry grass around
