  1. But the odds are lower, each week that goes by the longer those odds......which i am sooooo happy about. First time in 2 months i've felt alive! So much more energy.
  2. Sorry, the nerd in me forgot say it was mathematically shorter odds of a reload of than earlier in summer. Not impossible by any means just very unlikely.
  3. Agree totally, end of this week the rise in temps will happen,to the scale and longevity we have just had? Nope, highly unlikely in my view. To have a reload of the same conditions in a maritime based climate the like of which we have would be highly unusual. Low to mid 20's showing till mid August further North i feel. Further south yes something warmer, record breaker, not a chance.
  4. We will see. Just saying a repeat of the extended conditions we have had is very unlikely. Especially in my area thankfully
  5. In Star Trek you would certainly be a Klingon....every slight hope, you Klingon to it But seriously, you don't want to see folk suffer, taken ill,die due to heat do you? See wildlife suffer? See farmers livelihoods suffer?
  6. The difference a day makes. Today feels and smells so much better. This smell is Petrichor, something chemists have been trying to mimic without success. Everything just feels so much cleaner, the air especially. Gone is that muck we've endured for so long. Thankfully nothing showing that would replicate the last several weeks, first day of a pleasant summer! People won't suffer in these conditions, wildlife will recover, win win.
  7. It's exactly like what happens in the Winter months on here. After a protracted cold spell folk search for every possible sign that their type of weather will continue even though logic dictates otherwise. The same is happening now,we are entering August, yes there will be hot spells, but nothing like what we have just endured, thankfully. Washout, not a chance, return to a more pleasant Summer, yes most defiantly. Why would anybody want more?
  8. Starting to gain some real hope this weather is on a proper change, this weekend is looking like the first for weeks that useable weather is available,ie not dripping in sweat. Certainly a move in right direction with most of the trends showing. One can hope. We certainly need the rain and a lot of it!
  9. I have a strong feeling this may prove to be nearer the mark. A continuation of the current weather gets mathematically smaller the longer it persists. Could only be a short return to normal conditions though. Hopefully not,a change is long overdue.
  10. And deadly don't forget. Very much a life threatening scenario.
  11. The latest METO long range outlook looks awful, still no relief to be seen, the last thing we need to see at this time. The countryside has lost all it's beauty, just smells of dust and dirt Just praying that it changes however unlikely that may be. This is becoming the summer from hell.
  12. Humidity is the killer,we run training for engineers as part of HsE courses specifically on how to deal with it. The difference a small increase in humidity can make is amazing. It can creep up before you notice it,by then you are dehydrated.
  13. Even though i truly hate this weather, the worst summer in 15 years for me,the government should keep it's trap shut. We know on a hot day to try and keep cool,we know on a freezing cold day to keep warm. The press just want to sell their rags, the government just want to interfere to try and look good. In this weather if you like it,are sensible then enjoy it! Just the same in Winter for those like myself. For me i'm praying for a breakdown, cooler fresher weather, but i know the coastal trade at just the start of the School holiday season wants the opposite. Each to their own and criticising another's view...nope that's not right. To many on here forget this.
  14. Just come off a customers site, showing 43c in the room i was in. Luckily i was parked in a quiet part of the car park, the noises i was making sat in the car with full aircon on could have got a few weird looks to say the least or arrested if the police had been near!
  15. These are the conditions set by law. No ventilation,no aircon. CQC rules have to be followed for decontamination. Weather like this just makes things appalling. Health is suffering.
  16. Toughest day so far this Summer, just heard tired moaning all day from everybody. One poor nurse had to be treated for heat exhaustion on one site today, she was in tears. We need a change, everything is looking and is scorched, nature is suffering, the trees are stressed, the fruit production is woeful, birds in particular are suffering, the lack of running water is a major issue. This week is going to be tough, very tough.
  17. Going to be a nightmare next week, will have to cancel a number of calls in the South east due to the heat tripping kit out, that is for certain. Those poor staff who work at those sites, they have had enough. No ventilation,no aircon. Appalling working conditions.
  18. Much nicer then than now i suspect!....for me anyway
  19. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-44910435 Cancelled my trip to Japan, the word killer springs to mind.
  20. This utter misery has to end soon, another week of it will finish me. Long time since i've felt as bad as this.
  21. For me honestly it's more a reduction of daylight when i feel less stressed I know this sounds weird, yes the weather plays a point but it's the longer daylight hours i find hard to cope with.Sleep comes a problem and hot weather just compounds it hence my hatred of this type of weather, the having to have aircon at home, the moaning on and on about it, Sorry for that by they way,but i doubt i can ever change that bit!. Pity the only job i've ever been good at doesn't really help at all! Your post struck a chord, the phrase "you'll live" means a lot. Without 2 very close friends(one sadly no longer with us) neither would i have been in 1998. Depression comes in so many forms, thankfully i'm still fighting it....and this blinking weather!
