  1. I agree, very damaging. Just like long day light hours and sun can have in the Summer for some.
  2. I wear shorts and a tee shirt most of the Winter too, especially around the house. Hairy legs
  3. Speak for yourself Cheese! I complained when i was to hot, actual numbers are irrelevant, you moan its cold at 10c,to me no way is that even cool. As i've said many many times, try doing my job for a week, your view would be challenged i feel.
  4. Waking in the dark now, love this run into Autumn, you can see the change much more clearly. Can't wait for those dark winter mornings and evenings after this Summer!
  5. As the days go by the return to any prolonged heat looks less and less likely. Starting to shape up to be a much more bearable pleasant month than the previous 2 in this long Summer!
  6. Sorry!!! Autumn for me is the awakening after the misery of summer
  7. Sounds perfect! Autumn is my favourite season, the colours, the light, that cooler fresh clean air, love it.
  8. Very strange view. Not sure on the logic on that one
  9. Due to type of work i do we are trained and train all staff who need it on the dangers of heat exhaustion/stroke/dehydration. Been doing the job nearly 30 years, last 12 months(twice in current hot spell) once prior been taken ill due the heat. 2 A&E visits, both times got a deserved ticking off. I should have known better. But it does creep up on you, feeling the symptoms means your to late to quickly remedy it. Hope things have improved,i know exactly what you've been through, not nice at all.
  10. Don't worry Ed,the Atlantic will come to our rescue i'm sure!
  11. I suspect your are in the the minority with that one. Many have suffered, especially further south and i mean really suffered. A lengthy spell of that degree would be more than many could cope with now. Just a normal August would do fine,no extremes,no monsoon,no heatwave, just a re-balance which looks odds on apart from the Southern part of the country.
  12. No sprouts for lunch then! Some very useful rain i suspect for the old allotment though. Much needed. Nature certainly needs a drink and refresh ready for the next heat build down South. One redeeming feature of the wind down south is the MD of the company i work for is taking a early afternoon ferry from Dover to Calais and he's not a good sailor....such a shame
  13. Fingers crossed your crops ok. Used to have a allotment myself
  14. Drought stress will cause issues.Screaming wind? Down south adjectives i suspect differ to us up North......bit of banter
  15. Rest my case. Nothing else i can say to be honest. We're just here for fun aren't we? The weather does what it wants after all, like it or not.
  16. Ok fair enough, that's your opinion. Just when it does get hot again don't forget what you have just posted. It has been really nice on this "stupid" forum recently, just banter, loved it. It is only weather after all,we can't change it no matter how much we'd wish and believe me after these 2 months i wish i could!
  17. Wear layers? Why? To be honest anybody with a coat on today i found a bit odd to say the least. Spoke to a few(non coat wearers) and everyone was loving the cooler conditions!
  18. Wild horses couldn't drag me down to that hell hole of misery, sweat and utter purgatory ......or in other words, very glad i don't live in the SE. Gods own county does me fine.
  19. Today has been the first day i've got anything done outside in 2 months,30c temps are not usable at all,it just keep me indoors basically trapped. The car actually looks clean, drive is clean, feel so much better and refreshed,no headache no sweating, lovely.
  20. Fingers crossed you should have a good 2 weeks! Those temps sound roughly right hopefully, perfect for a family holiday. For me it's like having a old friend back this weather, such a relief. Life is so much better. As for the record chasers....least said the better. (i include the ones in Winter in that!) Really sorry to hear you suffer from SAD in the Winter, until you go through it nobody can truly understand how hard it is. Hope this weather is making up for it in some way.
  21. Yep your bang on there,i remember 76....just. This feels like it in some ways. To be honest anything could happen apart from a wash out August, that isn't going to happen,if it did i would be gobsmacked. A moderation of the heat, more rainfall(not huge amounts) is odds on.
