Sparkiee storm

Got quite a heavy burst here. Started to settle to more areas.

Coming down now and starting to settle on cars and roofs where it melted yesterday, roads and pavements not yet.

Same, went for a midnight stroll earlier, felt like i could snap my ears off, major wind chill, will only get colder now the winds are picking up more. Might look blizzard like even down here at times.

Snow here now as well, very wet but its turned so that's a good sign for when the main front comes back to us, looks like we are in for another good dumping . You know you are a hardcore coldie when your up late for the snow

A53 impassable and probably closed, looks like a huge amount of snow has drifted onto the road looking from the winking man webcam. Still snowing and drifting there too and a lot more to come later. Snow still covered on the grass but roads are clear, pavements are mostly clear, just some parts where its slushy. But also snow remaining on some roofs and even partly on trees. Surprised how much is still laying after all the rain. Looking forward to the fresh top up in the morning.

That boundary line must be laser cut as its rain here.

Noo, a closer look and its drizzle

Very light here now almost stopped, but even this light they are still flakes.

8 cm on the bin, looks like maybe nearer 10cm on the grass.

There is a strange pattern ive just realized, we seem to get significant cold and snow in March every 5 years. 2013, 2018 and now this year.

Yeah clearly most snow since 2018 easily now.

Icicles still there and a little bigger

Best snowfall since 23rd Jan 2021, another a cm or 2 and it will be the best since the beast.

Coming down pretty good again, gotta be close to 5cm now .

Yeah can confirm that a bit over 3cm here. Edge of Bloxwich, Leamore side.

Small icicles beginning to develop, something i didn't see in December's or January's cold spells .

A good covering now already, wonder how much we will end up with.

Is this front arriving earlier than forecast and will it affect the snow chances overnight tonight whether its for better or worse? Although i just heard its meant to slow down and the colder air to the north is meant to undercut it. Radar watching and lampost watching from tonight .

Ive heard there will be very low dew points with this coming spell so that should help snow and the cold feel. Sub zero with the wind chill.

Looks like this coming cold spell is gonna happen as all models are beginning to show something similar now, GFS, ECM, METO and GEM. Could get more upgrades through the next few days. It looks as though it will last around a week but that will change too. So hopefully we can get deeper cold and lasting longer with plenty of snow. Certainly look like there is more chances of significant snow with this one than other spells this winter.

Even with not much snow, this winter has been impressive for cold and frosts. Wonder if this SSW can help us get a decent snow event before the winter is finished. Ill be watching until mid/end of March.

Temps much lower than forecast again, a frequent thing this winter. -3 currently.
