Looks like they are starting to build across the Midlands as the clouds are getting darker but nothing on the radar yet, anyone know what time it might kick off?
I saw the exact same thing and the plane was not hit, as a saw the actual lightning fork itself, I was looking in the right direction at the time and there was one almighty fork lightning that bent right through the sky, but still would of been a very scary time for people on that planes as it was a very close call.
I agree July 2013 was fantastic and then from the 22nd and 23rd there were some impressive thunderstorms, also I remember around the 27th and 28th there were also some thunderstorms, but the thing I remember was a massive area of rain exploded into life with it being torrential literally for hours on the night of the 27th with a few imbedded storms..
I know this is not this country, but these storms have came from the same air mass we were in, this is just across the North Sea, some decent flashes of lightning on there.

I have found a Holy storm or maybe a storm that wants to be a Hurricane
On another note, sun beginning to re appear, hopefully will help for a bit later
Some very rapid intensification in North France as lightning maps are showing new sferics, east of the main bunch but only still a light shower on the radar
Yeah ive been thinking it would feel more humid after any rain as the water from the wet ground evaporates so then the air above the surface has more moisture.
Very 'plumey' type skies, but only a light shower atm.
Just looked at the sat and looks like skies clearing after this bit of rain clears, hopefully that is when the inland storms will begin to develop whether it be elevated or surface based and may make it feel more muggy as the moisture from this rain evaporates.
Also remember Estofex forecast... Level 1 for Southern and Central areas, also East Wales.
Wow what a storm some CG lightning, hail, heavy rain and lasted around half hour
Amazing start to storm season and an amazing year already with snow, blizzards and now storms
Wow what a way to start the storm, quite a bit of lightning seen a CG bolt, deep and sometimes booming thunder, heavy rain and pea sized hail
Wasn't expecting that.
What a year already, snowstorms, blizzards, and now thunderstorms
Some wet snow here giving a dusting on cars, roofs and bins etc but very slushy type, but at least this has given this area 6 months of falling snow in a row now, wow half a year of falling snow in some days in every moth is incredible .
I agree with you on this one maybe a couple of hours of sleet and/or snow in the colder hours but milder air turning in back to rain for most of us during Monday daytime, south of Birmingham may get localised snowfall but like you set it may just stay as rain here. But as ever time will tell.
Might do a Easter egg hunt for the young nieces and nephew, and paint the eggs white, and then hide them in the snow if we get enough haha, that should make it a little more interesting than usual
You think the last couple of beasts were good, look at London's temperatures wish I was there
On a more realistic note, snow possible for our region at least for a time on Monday.
That heavy patch looked right on course for us now the winds looks like have changed and taking the system and the heavy areas with them south of us so we will probably get only light glancing blows on the northern edge tonight unless things change again for those in the Walsall area
Hopefully its slowly on its way to you, seems to be doing something strange around or over us.
Every 100ft counts, in these types of situations as it could mean all the difference haha
I'm about half a mile from Walsall Town, 10 minutes away from Bloxwich, and its not much but the flakes are a little bigger and coming down more than it was the most of the day
So probably about 2 or 3 miles from you
Yep, defiantly a snow lunatic haha, I admit, I'm still excited like its the first snowfall of the season still haha
It might be also because im wondering how deep its gonna get and how amazing it already looks out there with snow cover everywhere and the huge icicles
