  4. Yes, it seems a very long time since there has been widespread heavy snow for the U.K. and Ireland. It is very hard for me to imagine what very cold and very snowy weather will be like. When it will come, the very cold weather will only be forecast 2 to 3 days before it is due to hit the U.K. and Ireland. Any snow coming our way will only appear in the 12 to 24 hour forecasts and they will not be able to know how much will fall. I feel we will have a repeat of the chaos in London and other areas that occurred in February 2009. I have already bought snow boots which I bought two years ago and I still have not had a chance to wear them in snowy weather.
  5. I was born in 1963 at the end of July in Edinburgh. My mother was worried that the snow won't be gone in time of my birth.
  6. A fine sunny day with thin layer of scattered clouds. The cloud base is at 1755 feet. The temperature is 11.8 °C with a last hour variation of +3.6 °C . The wet thermometer is 9.6 °C and the humidity is at 75%. The wind speed is 1.1 miles per hour and the wind direction is from the SSW. The barometer pressure is at 1022.0 mb and the altimeter pressure is at 1025.3 mb. The pressure is falling slowly at -0.3 mb/hr.
  7. It is the third morning of very bright sunshine, with spring like temperatures. The sunshine has been lasting until the late afternoon for the past three days.
  8. The SpaceWeather.com has a sunspot count of 12 today but Solarham.net has a blank sun today. On the Space Weather.com website it is said that the sunspot on the 15th February was disappearing but they are still recording sunspot numbers for the 16th, 17th and the 18th. I have no way of finding the sunspot count for the 16th and the 17th February on Solarham.net.
  9. A beautiful sunny day with a blue sky with a thin layer of clouds. The temperature is 4.8 °C with a wind chill of +1.2 °C and a dew point of 0.6 °C .
  10. Thank you Coram, the snow cover is spreading sporadically over Europe and Scandinavia is now completely covered in snow.
  11. Some increase of snow and ice cover after days of decreasing cover.

It is an amazing picture of the annual Shetland event.
  13. A sunny day with blue sky with a layer of clouds. Moderate frost covering lawns and roofs.
  14. The winds have calmed down a lot from 33 mph gusts down to 5.7 mph from a Southerly direction. There have been heavy showers of rain. The temperature has gone down from 13 °C to 8.5 °C .
  15. I got drenched when I was out as It raining heavily. In the late morning my weather app on my phone had it forecasted as a cloudy day with no rain.
  16. It may be a very mild day but the weather is quite wild outside. There has been fine drizzle (the worst sort of rain) with gusts of wind at 32.7 mph . The winds are coming from a South Westerly direction and the temperature is a mild 12.6 °C .
  17. Snow spreading more into Europe, UK and Ireland on Sunday 21 January 2018
  18. After several attempts on downloading my images from my mobile phone. I hope it works now. I have not been getting any error messages.
  19. Paul the snow came for a few minutes but I have been struggling to download the images due to having a slow uncooperative laptop computer and I have been getting distracted by my upstairs neighbour maisonette flat playing the most annoying very loud music which has sent me .
  20. Here is a few short clips of the snow falling in South Ockendon. MOV0005A.3gp
  21. According to my mobile phone it has a rain symbol for South Ockendon at the top of my phone for the past hour.
  22. The rain turned into sleet at 11 00 am and then into snow at 12:15pm , which has been gradually getting heavier and now resembles falling dandruff.
  23. My fantasy winter will start off on the 15 October to 30 November with moderate to hard frosts that last the whole day and night. Then from the 1st December heavy snow showers that start from late morning that lasts for at least 14 hours or more. The heaviest snow showers last for 28 hours and will only a 4 hour break between each heavy snow shower and the last heavy snow shower will be on 31st January. I do not know enough about weather models to write about it. There will have have to been a SSW in the right place in Early October with no solar activity for several weeks.
