  1. was hot here earlier but has cooled off markedly for an hour or so now beginning to warm up again
  2. I'm no lover of heat and humidity but I have had no trouble sleeping..strangely I'm finding it ok.
  3. I meant In July of 2 years together. Almost a repeat performance near record heat for such a short duration of time.
  4. Weird how it looks like we are going to get two very hot very short spells at the almost the same time in back to back years...how unusual is this?
  5. For me these are near perfect summer synoptics for the southern half of the UK. Dry and warm but not too hot light breezes and no high humidity..ECM goes for something hot humid and thundery early next week.
  6. I would struggle to remember the year of classic thunderstorms let alone a day..but I will throw into the hat June 15 - July 31 2010 when I lived in Edmonton Canada that was an incredible 6 weeks stormy period of severe storms almost everyday with quite a few tornado warnings thrown into the pot.
  7. Could this be our 3 obligatory hot days and a thunderstorm then summer is over?..dont see it on the GFS 06hrs though?
  8. 1984 wasn't far off 1976 for drought conditions across the UK that I do remember..84 was dry following on from dry last 6 months of 83
  9. Because this forum must be the most negative moan fest known to man..a more miserable bunch I have not come across...however I do take task about that the UK has the most varied and interesting climate in the world..i would definitely give that to the central belt of the US and Canada
  10. Some summers were stinkers in the 1980's ...1980,81,82,85,86,87 & 88 were all pretty poor
  11. why does it have to be 30c + I'm not sure why there is an obsession with being 30c or above ..what's wrong with it being 25c+
  12. Agreed ..to my untrained eye still looks to be a fairly mobile pattern with areas of higher pressure moving across then away into the containment then back to square one and repeat...so drier warmer spell followed by more unsettled spell and back to drier warmer spell...
  13. You just got to laugh really, todays weather would be classed as vile if it were November for crying out loud. Just looked at the meto update and more of the same into early August? We have an absolutely dNice sunny and warmisgusting climate, if you like seasonal weather your basically up the swanny here, its just a 12 month Autumn. Nice summers day down here today..in fact that's 2 in a row
  14. Looking at the temps over the next 2 weeks it will struggle to get much above 23/24c anywhere for any length of time.
  15. is it ?...looks drier but don't see any hot weather anywhere..looks dry and warmish
  16. Not down here dull cloud laden skies ..this had to be dullest and coolest June along with 1991 that I can remember
  17. Has been a lot wetter this summer than last so far..last year April May June and July were pretty dry although not overly warm..this year so far April May and June have been wetter than normal..June has been very much a wet miserable month to date...the worse summer month I have experienced since July 2007
  18. few days more like... as long as it dry im not fussed..dry and warm would suit..but no heat fest...London is a horrible place to be during long hot spells.
  19. And tornadoes in the transition seasons like the US?
  20. looks like the t-shirts will be coming out of hibernation oh and the lawnmower
  21. Cold where exactly?..again here he SE it was a reasonably good summer with a large number of 25c and above days esp mid June through to Mid August and was predominately dry..personally I would prefer a nice warm June over a nice warm August..i would take a hot June followed by a cool July and a warm August.
