  1. Much prefer the Canadian climate with the exception of spring..as the Canadians say it sucks!
  2. in terms of a cold winter with snow..i threw in the towel last summer..the writing has been on the wall ever since then with the basin wide large el-nino..which had mild and wet winter written all over it..don't see the synoptics changing much through February and nothing I can see show any pattern change either.
  3. its not impossible...winter 77/78 was exceptionally cold and snowy across N.America the worst of the 20th Century and far worse than their recent winters..we also had some decent snow events in January and February 1978
  4. Were not a patch on the 80s winters or 70s come to that
  5. early spring on the cards if the latter part of the GFS were to be believed very much Feb 1990 & 1998 esq.
  6. peoples ability in the MOD thread to state the blindingly obvious like it is some kind of miraculous revelation..well done Sherlock.
  7. seems we are getting summer synoptics in winter and winter synoptics in summer...we would have had a very nice summer so far if the last 2 months set up had occurred in June and July
  8. if our weather is predominately atlantic sourced then you have answered your own questions...you dont need to be sherlock holmes to work out that if the models are showing mild weather in the outlook then 9/10 it will be right.
  9. still ranks as the greatest snowstorm I have ever experienced and that's saying something having lived through Canadian winters.
  10. Actually I think 1998 wasn't to dissimilar to last summer without the hot spell...wasn't particularly wet but neither was it particularly warm either
  11. comparing the last two big El Nino of 82-83 & 97-98 I would take the spring of 1998 over the spring of 1983..however summer 1983 was far better than 1998...maybe we will end up with a 1998 spring and a 1983 summer?
  12. starting to notice the lighter evenings now...sunrise is now pre-8am but will still be a while until I notice the lighter mornings as im up way before then,.
  13. America is a huge continent so there is always going to a massive snowstorm somewhere on most days during winter.
  14. cool..i like your style..writing off summer in a winter thread..i would be happy with Feb 98 scenario...followed by summer 2015 all over again as it was pretty decent in my neck of the woods.
  15. this is the reason I don't go in the MOD during winter..you get posters who just pop up when any cold is around and all others hang on their every word when in variably they are shown to be wrong in their outlook or model dissection..i only ever read the thoughts of those who post all year and tell it how it is..Gibby is very good if you want the best model summary IMO.
  16. still waiting for it to get cold...got down to +2c last night..may get my first air frost of the season if lucky over the next 2 nights days will be +5 or +6c before it warms up again
  17. I doubt it.. they will input data in from the world over as the climate and weather patterns are global..so not just data in our area of the world.
  18. cold and dry suits me just fine..not interested in whether it snows or not...some sunny days would be nice..looks like we might get some at last.
  19. usual straw clutching in the MOD thread this morning
  20. i wont be here in 50 years..but im guessing tech will have moved on by then co2 levels will be dropping below todays level with cleaner and more efficient production and carbon capture
  21. what cold spell...all I can see is 4 days of +6c days before we are back into double digits again...damp squib more like
