  1. If the GEFS aren't improved from the 0z then I'm starting to be concerned. If we have such a significant SSW happening, can someone explain why the GFS op has lost the blocking on its last 2 runs?
  2. Have the wheels fallen off already??? I always get that feeling when the GEM is posted. Not a great start to the day I must say. If we can't get cold and snow from this SSW, then I'm completely changing hobbies and I will start collecting stamps
  3. Yes all the pieces may at last fall into place. Good output today so far, looking for a decent 9/10 day ECM now. And in response to your last sentence I think you need a QTR. (that's quicker todger response)
  4. What I have noticed is, the 30 dayer quite often changes wording every other day. But, It's been the same wording for quite a few days now. Quite unusual and confidence must be pretty high on that very cold reaching us.
  5. I hear what your saying. But I remember 22nd March 2013 here in Leeds we had snow for 3 days, with huge drifts further out towards north yorks. That snow lasted a week on the ground. Obviously further south will be more difficult. I have a feeling we won't see anything that noteworthy anyway, but I'm not worried about it being late Feb at all.
  6. Yes Daniel quite true. We often get wintry nirvana from GFS. However it does keep the theme in fi over the last few days. Add to the fact the MO lrf has had the same wording for a few days too, does give hope! Lookinh forward to the model runs coming up over the next few days. Is the ECM now starting to show interest too?
  7. And yet only yesterday the contingency forecast from them states there won't be a SSW in February. Don't know why people are so hung up on the meto tbh. They don't have a clue half the time
  8. I hope the models have this correct this time. The last few winters I've walked up more garden paths than a postman
  9. Still Uploading the highlights of tonight's 18z. He should be done for midnight
  10. I'll say it before anyone else. Ignore the GEM it's cannon fodder (if it's showing what nobody wants)
  11. Poor 192 chart and if you look at the GEFS there's a lot that a similar
  12. Indeed. If that had been what the op had shown tonight, we would have been on page 100 by now!
  13. They have revised it, however for the better imo. Talk of an easterly wind and snow showers
  14. Oh our standards are very low. My next door neighbour has really bad dandruff and if this Feb cold doesn't happen I'm going round to his and asking him to shake his head, so I can see some white stuff falling
  15. I'm sure someone else can clarify. But last year a GFS run showed -17 temps for much of the country and up to 3 feet of snow! But yes it would be certainly up there.
  16. Ok well there was definitely some great charts looking from a NH view only. Granted I don't look in graph form but the images at least looked great:-)
  17. Not a surprise though is it? The GEFS can quite often throw out a few stonking runs and completely drop the signal. Back in December the NH was crazy on over 15 perts. Stayed that way for about 3 days then died a death.
  18. This is sure to be a non event here in Leeds. Been very unlucky this winter and I feel it will continue tomorrow. I am not even expecting any snow. It will start as sleet/cold rain and turn to heavy rain. i love snow as much as anyone but just trying to be honest here
