  1. I believe its about -17/18 back in the period of the great 80's wish we could see that again now I'm old enough to appreciate it lol
  2. Just out of interest I'm moving to Lincolnshire at the end of Jan so does that fall under this region?
  3. Hi mate I live in stevenage under the streamer and can confirm it is sleety this far south so if it moves north you could well be in luck. Wasn't expecting this to be as far north but confined to the far SE.
  4. As said many a time if it can go wrong for coldies in the UK it will go wrong! Let's just hope we get that split which ends up in a favourable position for us but at present I'm not feeling as positive about this SSW as I was a week ago!
  5. That ties in with the Met forecast of more persistent rain in the SE tomorrow....no mention of sleet or snow at all
  6. The issue on the ECM is the secondary low on the southern tip of Greenland which the other models don't have, will be interesting to see if the ECM has that tomorrow morning.
  7. Is that an Omega block but in an unfavourable position for the UK?
  8. So more elongated rather than a dartboard low? Thanks for replying
  9. Hi mate, if only it was that simple but there are so many other factors in play like dew points and wet bulb temps. It's even harder to fall on the right side of marginal at the moment with such a warm North Sea (about 2 degrees above normal) all I will say is as time goes by we will hopefully start falling on the right side of marginal
  10. To be fair the models have back tracked some what and all the bullish it's going to get better and better has decreased some what. We haven't even had a frost just yet and there is a real possibility that we could after a relatively colder spell go back to business as usual. I do think once again we are looking for a favourable SSW to give most what they desire and currently that is looking 50/50
  11. I would just like a frost out of this cold spell because it's not looking likely with low cloud currently and then when when winds move into the east as models are showing that's going to bring cloud off the north sea. Great synoptics however I just can't see a big freeze or nationwide snow fest. I hope the SSW will bring the goods but now that seems like it could bring a west based NAO. All enjoy what you get for the next week or so and hope for better moving forward....I just hope this isn't the winter where so much was promised but not a lot was delivered.
  12. Because there are clearer skies, we have all suffered with claggy skies today but where skies clear tomorrow storms will be more widespread still Midlands southwards though ☺
  13. To be fair today was always going to be quiet, tomorrow is a different matter
  14. As the metoffice said storms could pop up absolutely any where from the Midlands South and that is proving correct so far
