Setting my alarm for 5am as that’s when we should start to see some wintriness in Stoke (if we are to see any). Or I’ll just wake up to more disappointment and wet streets. Night all!

Way too marginal. Cold rain away from the highest ground.

We get the bits and pieces while no-one else gets anything but then we miss out on the big events

Northern extent of that system isn’t the be all and end all for the Midlands as there’ll be very frequent wintry showers moving down from the north at the same time. Hence there are 2 warnings for snow, not just one.

All talk of how far north this system will go but people seem to be missing the frequent wintry/snow showers that will be moving down from the north at the same time....

Looks very marginal though. Even places like here, with a bit of elevation, may just see sleet or a sloppy mess.

Classic British snow event. Snow showers all night and not a single flake has settled, despite the temperature being barely above freezing. Absolute rubbish.

I give up and suddenly a line of heavy snow showers sets up over me. Coming down a fair bit at the moment. Not settling though, despite an air temperature of just 1’C.

A light flurry in the air. Turning into a disappointing night.

Cheshire Gap showers look to be developing again. Although they look quite small and light at the moment.

Now we have heavy full on snow coming down and settling thanks to this beauty.

Indeed, and the latest Euro4 model update ups the snow for here tonight. Cheshire Gap never fails! In fact, it’s snowing again ️

Temperature must also be dropping. That sleet turned to wet snow just before the shower cleared.

Sleeting in Stoke. Wind must be changing direction. That’s the first shower I’ve seen today.

That one a couple of weeks ago was good though. Put down a good dumping of snow here in the space of a few hours. Caught a lot of people out. Been lucky here compared to rest of the Midlands in this very poor winter.

Could be Stoke’s second snow event of the winter. Always snows here when we get a north westerly. Bemuses me that warnings and forecasts largely ignore the snow risk here in these setups.

Indeed. I suspect Stoke could see a few bouts of wintriness in the week ahead.

Met Office have just issued a warning for snow. How ridiculous. It will never happen!
