  1. Traffic cams looking very white at Beattock, enjoy whoever gets snow!
  2. Interesting drive down south this morning, hail showers at home in Glasgow then no snow at the side of the M74 (about 400m asl at the highest) back down to carslile and across the A69 where there was snow and hail lying on the road at about 150m with a good cover above 200m asl on the western side of the pennines. Gutted to be missing the lamppost watch tonight but hopefully many of you will see a decent fall of snow !
  3. The first wintry shower has arrived here with sleet and hail.
  4. Meto forecast mentions lying snow at times between Mon- wed before getting milder later Wednesday (no mention of hills!) guess who leaves early on Monday and gets back late Wednesday
  5. Interesting/depressing of how winter is going that Aboyne reached 15c and many places managed 12/13c. Orlando, Florida has only made it as high as 12c by 7pm their time...
  6. Argh, family reporting the thunder and hail at home (better than snow!) but I'm not in the country typically!
  7. The met Office text forecast is on the fence for Tuesday, probably the first time this season where it hasn't mentioned snow being restricted to hills...? Thursday: Showery start to Tuesday, then periods of rain and snow crossing from southwest later.
  8. Yes same here, big splodges on the windows.
  9. Very wet and windy at the moment. The high wind speeds have probably increased the mixing of warmer air coming off the sea and reduced snow chances for here. Bit of a shame as the rain and sleet has been heavy here and more off than on for the last 24hours - we could've had a good dumping of snow if it was just slightly colder!
  10. Yeah, they made a mistake and changed it 5mins later. Not surprised as it never mentioned the depth of snowfalls which they normally would for a snow warning.
  11. Yellow snow and ice warning issued for tonight, snow mainly above 200m but it mentions snow to lower levels in Scotland as a possibility. That's our snow chances gone for tonight then
  12. Heavy sleet all night here but it's now alternating between sleet and wet snow. First snow of the season! I'm at about 100m above sea level on the south side of Glasgow.
  13. Thanks, yes, probably the worst that's ever happened to me and I've driven through much heavier rain. I could do nothing about it though given darkness and you couldn't see the edges of the water since it went all the way across the road (dual carriageway).
  14. Horrendous night, just hyrdroplaned really badly for what felt like ages through a flood on the A77 which woke me up! Roads have turned into rivers with loads of flooding around, wouldn't be surprised to hear of some of the floods starting to impact property given the torrential rain continues.
  15. Did anybody see the meteorite (I think) at 6.13 this morning? I was driving away from the house and saw a bright flash in the sky to the south west of Glasgow. My security cam confirms the area and time. It may be on my dash cam footage but it was just as I turned a corner so may have missed it.
  16. Early drive down south this morning and the snow level is down to about 900ft through the southern uplands, with snow still on lane 3 of the M74 at about 1000ft above sea level. It had been cleared and it was sleeting but still a few patches on the road.
  17. Snow on the road at the A82 traffic Scotland cams further along at Altnafeadh.
  18. Sleet has just started here, looks like rain out of the window down stairs but definite sleet on the velux window. Hopefully we'll get a brief change to snow as it gets heavier but not expecting any snow here tonight!
  19. Good few rumbles of thunder here with some torrential rain ?️
  20. Ah might have been that one, thought you had a camera set up watching your snow stick
  21. Don't rub it in or ill need to bring up that timelapse you had set up for a red weather warning for snow which drizzled Agree though, the difference is massive across small areas, particularly in the west with the higher SST's. I won't forget 6th December 2010 for a long time. It took me something like 14-16hours to drive from the west of Edinburgh home to Hamilton! I left early and made it into the office before the snow. I Saw it was going to be worse than expected but didn't have a great boss at the time so had to go into the office. Left at lunchtime, then I ran out of battery on my phone and ended up taking some dodgey back roads to pass some of the traffic with temps around - 18c showing on the thermostat.
  22. it's just like the old days again!
  23. Good storm by UK standards, frequent thunder and lightning and pretty photogenic!
