  1. It should be, although it is still melting. The next heavy snow shower is inbound and then there looks like a gap for a bit from the look of the radar.
  2. Dumping down, this is the scene already.
  3. Heavy snow back on here, apparently there was lightning but I was looking the other way... Each shower is now all snow instead of hail then snow mix and provides a slushy covering before melting. Massive snow flakes coming down now, shame it'll melt before the next shower.
  4. They'll drop very slightly this afternoon, before increasing again overnight and falling down to -8c tomorrow and into Wednesday (GFS 06Z) so I'd say the best bet is tomorrow evening and into Wednesday morning. The latest run also gives us a bit of a repeat on Sunday so very good news for the ski areas!
  5. The grass is pretty long so it'll take a lot to cover it!
  6. All white here again after the earlier slush melted, suspect that will be the theme of the day. Gutters are currently overflowing with hail
  7. Some lightning showing up on ATD in the next band of showers beginning to move into the Glasgow area...
  8. Snowing here too, started with hail so we have a dusting of hail with snow falling now
  9. Still waiting for the storm, when does it get going? Where's ma snaw more to the point On a more serious note, the torrential showers and anvils reminded me of summer storms today, roll on storm season this year after the disaster of this "winter" !
  10. Yeah just drove through that, lots of hail here on the cars at home but didn't see any while I was driving.
  11. I've changed my mind and i'm trying not to travel down the M74 tomorrow morning, although I am tempted to make sure I see some snaw
  12. Yep, very wet we got about 10mm of rain just from that squall.
  13. ICON now has a maximum wind gust of 100mph into the Glasgow area at lunch time tomorrow! Should say most of other models are in the 60-80mph range..
  14. I'd probably head for King's House Hotel at Glencoe or Bridge of Orchy, both High altitude and should get some heavy showers. Also in good locations for the west Highland way to walk a bit higher up if its milder than expected. Aviemore should get some snow though!
  15. Yes, been following that for the last few days and it's very marginal, as you say likely to be sleet away from the highest ground but there could be some surprises. ECM apparently going for max wind gusts of 75mph thro the central belt tomorrow and closer to 90mph around the Loch lomond area.
  16. Some really good photos in here again! Easily the best regional thread The meto are updating warnings, for the snow they are now mentioning more than 20cm of snow for the highest routes by the end of Tuesday - i'd be shocked if that isn't an amber warning for the M74 corridor later on Monday and into Tuesday as that'll be carnage with the strong winds. The only reason I'm guessing they haven't is that its still a few days away and reliant on showers training on the same areas. Some of the models going for more than 50 cm of snow for the highest areas...
  17. 3 weeks in a row the snow potential has been Mon-Wed and I've not been here for any of them due to work The M74 could be interesting early Monday but I' not sure if much will have happened there by then!
  18. A raft of weather warnings now in place with a new yellow wind warning on Saturday and snow & wind on Mon/Tues. As expected, mainly a high ground affair at the moment but it'll be an interesting spell for most even if it's only slush/hail at low levels. "Frequent and heavy snow showers will affect the region throughout Monday and at first on Tuesday. Snow showers will mainly be over high ground. Slight accumulations of 1 to 3 cm above 150 metres and 5-10 cm above 300 metres. Strong winds, gusting 50-60 mph, will lead to blizzard conditions at times and considerable drifting of lying snow. Frequent lightning strikes are also possible, perhaps leading to interruptions to power supplies." 19. The latest GFS run to me shows mostly a high ground snow event next week. The potential runs from Mon to Wed with a brief mild sector on Thursday with the snow line rising (subject to the front timing /position as it could be a more widespread event) and back to snow showers for Fri/Sat. For areas who do get snow in the west it could be a good event but to me it looks to be mainly a >2/300m event in terms of lying snow with brief dustings to lower levels in heavier showers for a short window on Tuesday .(based on GFS only) Let's hope for some upgrades in terms of the cold over the next few days as it only needs to be a degree or 2 colder for it to be more widespread.
  20. One thing I always worry about in these situations, due to the experience of living near the west coast, the strong winds tend to bring in warmer air off the sea at lower levels. This can drive well inland with stronger winds and cause either a sleet or slush fest at best for low levels. I normally don't expect to see anything major for low levels until you get to - 10c 850's. Not saying that will happen but it normally does so I'm not getting excited yet!
  21. Wait until they're talking about something 3-5 days out. Whilst model outputs in the 7-10day range can be predicted correctly its far less likely it'll come off. Nearly 20 years on here plus time on other forums before that (Wtf?) has taught me that despite the improvement in model performance over that time!
  22. Not surprised at this given the radar last night.. Drivers 'stranded for hours' as snow warning issued NEWS.STV.TV Commuters are facing potential travel chaos on the roads with snow and ice warnings active. Every thing seemed to miss my house last night, would've been really annoying if I was there to miss it by a few miles!
