  1. Heavy squally hail/wet snow sleet showers on and off today giving slight covering at times. Max of 3.1C but perishing in the winds. Brief but heavy huge flaked shower this evening giving good covering, think more to come tonight maybe..
  2. Hairy Celt Floods everywhere, springs appearing all over the place, slushy covering of sleet early doors before heavier proper snow set in giving good if soggy snow cover. Temps up to 0.1C and light rain now falling. Will be a tad difficult if it freezes tonight. On the plus side zero wind which is weird after 6 days of constant gale of severe gales.
  3. Another desperate day up hill howling severe gales which have been constant for seems days, mild though but severe gusts had me over once. Oh for a week nay month of frost and calm conditions
  4. Yes as others have noted recently ,vicious gusty winds this afternoon and obscenely warm at 16.2C
  5. Slight dusting of snow this morning with a few further wintry showers before a dry ish afternoon, bitter in the gusty nw wind though.
  6. Ghastly day here, storm last night was nowhere near as bad as we were expecting but been to Invergordon today as hound is poorly and quite a lot of damage around there. Driving heavy squalls today with sleet , hail and wet snow still howling winds too ug. No t sure about milder spell briefly 7.2 last night but dropping all day from about 4.3C at 9am.
  7. Relatively calm here after a frosty start, frost has lingered with temperatures struggling to 3C, still plenty of snow north facing but that may get washed or blown! away tonight.
  8. Icy this morning but managed to clear most of the slush as a preemptive strike on the black ice. Looks know it’s batten down stations for tomorrow night as Amber warning as storm nudges north. Milder at 4.6C and bit sun of appearing, still plenty of snow left.
  9. Rather horrid wet day which periodically reverted to sleet. Top temp of 2.4C with a strong nagging wind. Will be lethal if temp drops anywhere near zero. Slow thaw continues.
  10. 3-4cms snow overnight with drifting which filled in the path I had dug for the pigs (spoilt pigs) Sleety rain this morning with slow thaw setting in. Lanes dodgy by all accounts. Will try and clear drive before black ice issues if do get frost.
  11. Steady moderate snow here for last half hour or so, temps gradually on the rise from -4 earlier to -1.2C now
  12. Busy day digging out, managed to get one car dug out, not that we can really go anywhere anyway! Some gusty winds this afternoon caused some drifting before quieter with hard frost now currently -3.4C fourth ice day in succession. Expecting more snow tonight before beginnings of a slow thaw tomorrow but I suspect with black ice becoming the big problem which is much worse than the snow around here for driving. (or walking!)
  13. Heavy swirling shower around 5pm gave another half inch in rapid time, probably about another inch since in moderate rather than heavy snow. Smaller fine flakes, wind beginning to pick up now too. Pic from the wood camera
  14. Further heavier snowshowers with gusty winds, snow depths now threatening top of my wellies in several places. Stevenson screen in lower field recorded minus 11.8C last night which is lowest of the winter here. At the house currently -2.5 with a wind chill of -5, the air is so clear between the showers you can see wisps of blowing snow off the summit of Ben Assynt.
  15. Yet more snow overnight probably 4cm, getting seriously deep in places now. Looks like further good dumping tonight with amber warning in place. Minimum -6.7C IMG_1367.MOV IMG_1369.MOV
  16. Further 4cms today temps down to -6.7C but creeping up a bit now as more snow showers head in. Reckon around 16cm maybe tad more.
  17. It was interesting drive especially as we were in the electric Peugeot 208 which adds to the excitement as the miles left of charge rapidly diminishes at an alarming rate but handled fine although couldn’t get up the Struie going thanks to Tesco van stuck on first corner. IMG_1360.MOV
