  1. Yes amazing difference up to 3pm we were hovering at 10.8C which would have been coldest July max I have recorded in the seven years up here by a couple of degrees but late burst of rarely seen sunshine pushed it up to 13C. Cold tonight out with the mad hound in hat and jacket, well not the hound in the hat and jacket….

  3. Spectacular thunderstorm across the area, banging and flashing over over 2 and half hours. Over half inch rain which makes for over 2 inches 60mm in the last 7 days. Crrofter up the lane can’t remember having so much thunder and thunderstorms up here for many years. I will have a tot up tomorrow. I was down in Glasgow Tuesday and on the way back up the A9 it was great to see the rivers in full flow again.
  4. Thunderstorms Sunday and Monday dropped just over an inch of much needed rain. Pics of pond before and after
  5. Far too busy lately but just caught up on all the posts for last couple weeks. Yes rain here at last things were getting desert like, around third of an inch in the rumbling thunderstorms of this evening. Need more though! Cracking sunset with the mist as storms cleared
  6. A more cloudy day here fire misty and frosty! Start, an impressive minus 0.2C . Pond has dried up completely which it didn’t do last year despite the long dry spells.
  7. Tinder dry already up here, pond has all but dried up already. We missed the heavier rain that was to the south and over the Black Isle last week alas. Still icy wind here maximum of just 12C here yes that’s 12C. Hopefully warming up this week.
  8. Minus 4.4 on the Davies Station but impressive -7.4C in Stevenson screen now the top field. Another cold raw day, warm in the sun but bitter out of it, further light sleet and snow flurries off and on this afternoon. Another cold one again tonight I would think.
  9. Few pics from hike to Sandwood Bay cracker of a beach and well worth the 14 mile round trip.
  10. Bitter day yesterday with passing showers on strong NE winds, showers turning sleety later. Dusting of wet snow this morning with higher hills white. Far cry from last weeks glorious weather.
  11. 19.1C here yesterday with apparently (I , alas stuck indoors all day fitting the kitchen into Dingwall pad can’t wait to get darn place finished and get outside back into the air)) I think a day off and hike to Sandwood Bay is called for tomorrow before dire weather sets in at the weekend.
  12. Very frosty start at minus 2.2 but glorious sky as the fog cleared. View from The Struie early doors 20230415_072728.mp4
  13. Rather horrid day half inch of rain which was sleety at times, covering of snow from about 600 ft to the south with good covering above about 1200 ft.
  14. Cold but bright here, a few hail/sleety showers pushing through on a distinctly biting NE wind. Ground very wet and pond is overflowing but we have frogspawn for the first time since I dug the pond out last winter.
  15. 13.7C here today although annoyingly I was stuck inside all day grrr. Struie very moody this week
  16. Very cold day here with biting wind again, snow last night and early morning giving around 3 and half inches 9-10cm few further showers today sometimes of fine hail, bitter wind tonight and as Kirkcaldy Weather stated a few snow showers passing through mostly light so far and frosty too.
  17. Heavy snow showers have been pushing down from the north. Pics from north ffield cam facing due north.
  18. Just wet snow this morning here but around 3 inches maybe bit more over the Struie mid morning. Snow fine hail showers here now in bitter wind
  19. Moderate snow here but more of the wet variety with temps at 0.7C windchill minus 6.
  20. Moderate rain and sleet here but temperature has dropped from 3.3C this morning ( highest for 8 days) to 2.C now and slightly dryer. Birds in a frenzy grabbing nuts with seagulls in the lower field always a sign of impending gales.
  21. Spits and spots of light sleet and rain with the few snowflakes in the mix with the temps at 2.9C with the odd drip drip.
  22. Missed a better photos of the front coming in as out with the mad hound but this below as dusk gathered.
