Model Output Discussion - Autumn arrives
Josh Rubio replied to Cheshire Freeze's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Yes 27-30 is around the top end of my threshold. 30+ just isn’t needed or welcome in this country imo as it’s ‘a different type of heat’ compared to abroad. Not at all fun. -

Those temperatures look like absolute hell, as well as dangerous heat. Hopefully it won’t come into fruition. -

Exactly this. I’m not sure why people are ramping/getting excited over 35+ degree charts and wishing it comes into fruition. We just wouldn’t able to cope. This isn’t the same as going abroad on holiday, people. Our buildings and infrastructure aren’t used to this sort of heat. -

40 degrees? What disgusting and potentially dangerous heat. I don’t think many people would actually enjoy that, especially given we aren’t prepared for that kind of heat. -
Spring and Summer weather moans

Started off sunny before the wind picked up considerably, with it clouding over. It genuinely feels cool now in any wind. -

Nice for recording breaking/a bit of fun but other than that, disgusting looking temperatures. Let’s be real, not many people would enjoy that sort of heat. Hopefully it won’t materialise. -

Looks like rapid developments in the Swindon area? -

What/are there any risks of isolated storms for tomorrow? At face value the forecast looks dry, however the text forecast mentions the risk of scattered sharp showers developing, with the risk of thunder. -

Looks dull thanks to full cloud cover and there’s a bit of a breeze here in Leicester. It feels cooler than it was earlier, albeit muggy feeling. -
Spring and Summer weather moans

20-25 degrees with a gentle breeze and blue skies is perfect for a lot of people I think, however, we don’t often get that. It’s either damp, grey and cold or we end up getting a hot and sweaty plume. The thing with our weather is that we seem to get wild swings. Just look at today compared to yesterday, for example. Next week looks nice, as long as we don’t get any more heatwave/plume rubbish. -

Good riddance to the heat. Keep that stuff in France. Much cooler and fresher today. -

Blue skies and sun now replaced with high cloud. Actually looks a bit dull now. -

Where has this drizzle/rain appeared from, which is currently over the Midlands? -

Just saw my first ever Dust Devil, in a field near Loughborough. Wasn’t small either, was quite large in width and height. -

What is it with it starting off with clear blue skies, for it to cloud over by lunch time? Seems to happen nearly every day. -

Seems like quite a few people have the same idea, including me. 20-24 degrees is the ideal temperature for me - not too hot and not too cold. -

Why are some people so obsessed with it being as hot as possible, complaining that it will now *only* be 30 degrees? It won’t at all be pleasant so good riddance to it. -

I noticed the BBC text forecast mention heavy and possibly thundery downpours for my location overnight. Is this still valid and would this be linked to the convergence line currently being formed? -

There really wasn't much to it apart from a few infrequent strikes. Best described now as 'thundery rain' imo.
