  1. Happy Birthday Team Jo, so pleased the weather played ball this year! Hope you have had a lovely day
  2. Morning all, First day back to work today after annual leave so I am feeling a mixture of and panic at the amount of emails I have come back to Like others have said, it's great to see some of the old regulars back posting - you have been missed! Tom and Tamara, loved the pictures you posted of the beauty of NW Kent. The river at Eynsford has particular memories for me - mainly of Mr Raven driving his car through the river by The Plough pub. Well, I say driving through - more killing the engine and then floating out the other side. This was back in the early days of our relationship where I can only assume the silly sod was showing off - and wrote his car off in the process There was a slight frost on the car this morning and it's quite nippy out. Well worth it though as it looks like we are in for another day of wall to wall sunshine - I just wish I was out enjoying it and not cooped up in the office!
  3. Morning all, Hope you are all well, I'm enjoying some time off work this week. Yesterday Mr Raven also had the day off so we took a drive out to Brighton. We had never been there before as we tend to go to our old faithful Hastings or Dymchurch when we fancy a trip to the coast. I must say, we thoroughly enjoyed our day at Brighton and plan on spending a weekend there this summer so we can spend longer there and visit the Pavilion too. Here's a few pictures: Mini-Raven is the one in the peach/pink top. I wasn't mad enough to go on this ride with her! Sadly the weather today isn't as lovely as it was yesterday, infact it's depressingly cloudy. Fingers crossed it brightens up later! Happy Friday peeps
  4. Morning All, Well, I survived my journey into London this morning, walking through the 'killer smog' as the sensationalist media publications are calling it. Joking aside, I don't know if anyone working/living in London has noticed an odd smell in the air this morning? Kind of sulphuric in nature, but only a mild wiff of it (thank goodness!) If the Sahara smells of rotten eggs, I can't say I'd fancy a visit there As for the weather, its cloudy (it could be sunny up past the smog!) and still very mild.
  5. Morning all, Murky but mild sums up the weather this morning. Did anyone fall for any April Fools day stories yesterday? I am ashamed to say I fell for the one about the square eggs . In my defence I only heard the story on Day Break and didn't see the footage, but figured that anything is probably possible with nature and the chicken could have had a faulty gene or something...
  6. Morning all, A lovely start to the day here, but I did go through pockets of fog on my train trundle into work this morning. Hope you are all well SR
  7. Afternoon All, I can only echo all the positive posts regading our little community in this thread, and it's great to see Tamara, Tom and Abruzzi spur back posting more regulary. As for the weather, after a misty start it's brightend up nicely and feels much warmer than of late. I'm off work today as it's my daughter's academic review day at school. Got our appointment at 3pm - all I ask is that she has been doing her best so far this year!
  8. You lucky so and so's getting some thunder and lightning. Nothing in my part of London where I work at the moment (London South Bank) but there are plenty of Cumulonimbus clouds popping up, so that's given me a bit of hope!
  9. Afternoon All, So today probably wasn't a good day to just have a cardigan to keep me warm then...? (my reasoning for going without a coat this morning is that I am working at my office that is less than a two minute walk from London Bridge Stn and Mr Raven is picking me up when I arrive later at Barnehurst Station, so I'm not that stupid ) I don't have any windows at work today, so have been relying on all of your reports - and I hear some of us are having snow...?! Fingers crossed the trains aren't playing up today, or I could be pretty cold later
  10. Lovely pictures bjay - I love Rochester and it's history (plus the old fashioned pink sweet shop) - I must take a trip down there again soon
  11. Happy Birthday Surrey, hope you have a lovely day Weather is surprisingly sunny this morning - I was expecting it to still be cloudy after last nights rain. It is certainly a lot cooler though, but I guess after the last couple of weeks weather, it's easy to forget it's still only March! Have a good day everyone - it's FFFFriday!
  12. You can't beat the sound of rain tapping against the window as you drift off to sleep... it's actually quite comforting. Night all zzzzz
  13. Morning all, My thoughts are with Alixzandra at what is a difficult time for you. Keep strong, and if you ever need a virtual hug you have come to the right place. This thread and the community spirit we have on here is amazing all year round, but particularly during the time when some of our members go through difficult times. Weather wise, it's a lovely morning out there - much better already than yesterday was with our promise of sun and temperatures in the late teens by the afternoon! However, I see a change is brewing and we are in for some colder more unsettled weather. In a strange way, I am looking forward to hearing the rain beat on the windows again - but just as long as it doesn't last the whole of spring!!
  14. Morning Dave, morning all, The 'like' button has changed in that now if you like a post, you click on the green squared box that has the arrow pointed upwards. As for the weather, it's really quite cold and cloudy here this morning. I came out in a cardiagan in the hope that the sun comes out later and warms things up a bit. Fingers crossed, or it's going to be a cold walk back to Waterloo East Stn this evening...
  15. Morning all, When I went to bed last night it suddenly occured to me that I haven't heard rain hitting the windows in what feels like ages, and part of me actually misses it. I keep telling myself after the winter we had that I should make the most of the dry weather... but it would actually be nice to have something more interesting on the horizon! Weather so far this morning is partly cloudy but dry. Also a bit of a nip in the air with a cool breeze.
  16. It's not too bad a day out there now, the cloud is clearing and the sun is out. Plus I only have 10 more emails to deal with!
  17. Morning all, Back to work today after a week off last week. I don't think I could have picked a better week weather wise to be at home, pottering about in the garden and just getting out and about, particulary the latter part of last week. Once the fog cleared, we were blessed with clear blue skies and warm sunshine. Shame the same can't be said for today - but then I think todays weather matches my mood being back to work! I'm off now to carry on plowing through 100's of emails... zzzzzzzzzzzz! PS - sorry to read some of us in the region are having a difficult time of things atm
  18. Afternoon all, Utterly glorious out there today, clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine and pleasantly warm. Love how the sun can really brighten the mood!
  19. Fab news Chilly Milly, so pleased for you after reading how awful his current employers are refusing him time off work for your daughters operation - terrible and makes me realise how lucky I am to work with an understanding boss. It's been cloudy here all day so far, but the cloud does look to be thinning. Fingers crossed we get some sun this afternoon! Also, happy birthday Jimmy, and thank you for sharing what you did this morning about your gambling habit. Keep up the good work in steering clear and I hope you manage to continue to sort things out with your wife. Yay, the sun has just come out!
  20. Afternoon All, Just spent some time catching up with the posts from the past 24 hours or so - lovely to see the pictures of you all enjoying the sunshine over the weekend. After sitting in waiting for British Gas to come out and fix our boiler yesterday (we potentially had to wait in between 8am - 6pm) we had a phone call from the engineer telling us he didn't have the new part for the boiler in his work van so couldn't come out and fix it, we quickly headed out to Greenwich Park to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. This morning started off like yesterday - warm and sunny. Unfortunately the cloud has now rolled in and it is quite chilly out Below are some pictures we took from yesterday in Greenwich and the actual park itself. View of the Docklands from the top of the park Same view just as the sun was setting Walking through Greenwich towards the Cutty Sark Airplane contrails above the dome of the Old Royal Navy College Inside the Chapel inside the Royal Navy College Really hoping the sun comes out again tomorrow!
  21. Morning all, Yes, it is a shame Andrea (snowlady) has decided to leave. I have no idea what last nights post was about but it seems there is some nastiness going on behind the scenes. It's a shame as I think as a whole this forum and especially this regional thread is a friendly place to be! As for the weather, it's cloudy this morning, but a bright cloud so hopefully the sun will decide to say hello! CK - enjoy your meal tonight and fingers crossed for Charlton tomorrow!
  22. I'm already looking forward to Sunday and temperatures in the late teens. To feel some lovely spring warmth after the horrible winter we have had will be lovely! Have a lovely weekend everyone - I'm leaving work for home now - couldn't have come quick enough! SR
  23. Really lovely pictures there Steve - I love sunset and sunrise and the colours it creates. Just come back from lunch - so pleased I went out to get some fresh air (as I am in the windowless office today) - I came into work and it was cloudy and cold. I fully expected it to still be like that when I went for lunch and it's actually sunny and pleasantly warm in the sunshine. Lovely jubbly!
