  1. Well said, I believe Green 1 goes from LHR to the US, via Shannon in Ireland. Amber 25 goes from Glasgow, south over Brecon & over to france. They intersect over the TACAN/VOR Beacon near Sennybridge. Airlines can't fly willy-nilly around the sky. NATO Airforces also observe a strict one-way system around the hillier parts of the UK, ie, Usk Valley, Elan valley etc in Wales are all one-ways only.
  2. And so the warming continues........ Damn, after a week over 25c+ in the Algarve, I was looking forward to something Juicy, alas no.
  3. Eight's a wish Nine's a kiss Ten's a bird you must not miss Really ?? I've got a Larsen Trap set up in the orchard & this catches about 2 a week. When I moved here we were plagued with Mags (40+), but I've thinned them right out over the summer, consequently my garden's now full of songbirds instead - much nicer.
  4. Whoa....Mystic Don !! (as a betting man I fear you maybe spot on though )
  5. No doubt we'll all be underwhelmed as usual. Whatever it says, the Express will have pictures of frozen landscapes on the frontpage with dire predictions of an impending ice-age by Xmas
  6. Hi LH, sure they're not Barn Owls ?? Also known as Screech Owls due to the racket they make (We've got a pair in one of the haylofts), in comparison, the tawnys are more of the traditional Twit-to-woo sound.
  7. Excellent stuff Mr D There were huge drifts even in the centre of London and the whole of the south grounded to the halt Imagine that now, the 24hr news media would pop a fuse & NW would crash. We'd have to instigate the ultra-secret SATSIGS level 6
  8. Hi Debs, greetings from over the Pond What no snow !! Thought you'd be up to your nether regions by now You've been living in North America for too long - it's spelt COLOUR (Bl**dy colonials )
  9. METO Autumn forecast released today http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/season...2007/index.html Colder than last year
  10. Certainly on the change here a lot quicker than in last 3-4 yrs. All seemed to change over last weekend, I went from sunshine to a garden full of leaves in 3 days !!
  11. A couple !! Dozens & dozens of them at Stokenchurch (M40 J5). I believe an RSPB release programme took place in early 90s with Kites from Sweden & the Pyrenees. It's been a roaring success & last year a pair bred inside the M25. Northbound, they've spread as far as Stoke Lyne Woods, M40 J10. great to see. I once heard the buzzard described as The Englishmans' Eagle !!
  12. Space Flu. Not sure i can cope with anymore epidemics. F&M, Bird flu etc, I'm bored with it all
  13. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/feature/2007/09/18_awa.htm Thanks Stuart, looks good for next week

  15. I have a good scrub every 2nd friday of the month, whether I need it or not !!!
  16. Ahhh, Isobars on a weather forecast - those were the days
  17. No Angel, cold is goooood. Keeps the bugs at bay, kills off all those viral beasties that give you the sniffles from Oct' to April. Have you tried fleecy knickers ?? Cancelled buses - excellent, as excuses go, that doesn't get any better !!
  18. Cheers Angel, much appreciated !! Andrew
  19. So, errr, what's the difference between Mist & Fog ?? Or when does mist become fog, or vice versa ??
  20. RAF Spadeadam, along with many other RAF Bases - Shawbury, Leeming, Benson etc, feature regularly due to the operational flying Squadrons all requiring detailed Met' briefs. However, due to defence cutbacks many of the names that the old-timers are familiar with are now gone (Wimpey housing estates probably), so no more Manston, BallyKelly, Pitreavie, Brawdy, St Mawgan, Binbrook alas. Another name that used to regularly pop up as low minima is Tow Law on the A68, nr Durham.
  21. I'm going to list them as "Night flying Swallows" !! Cheers for the advice Jethro
