  1. Same as my pigeons Androcles, 2nd brood obviously. Unfortunately an early frost will usually kill them off.
  2. By the looks of it John, I'll give it a miss & go with PP's option.
  3. Cheers PP, I'll get that tomorrow. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=...e=station;sess= How do I link it to this page ??
  4. Cookie, you may have a point there, I must consult the manual. (5 mins later) Eeeee, all this new fangled technology........when I were a lad, etc etc (TONA slips into a poor impersonation of a Monty Python sketch)
  5. Everytime I press the Red button my telly goes off !! What a rip-off
  6. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=019 Bidding on this at the moment. What do you reckon?? All replies appreciated
  7. When was the last time we heard "Isobar" mentioned ??
  8. I know about these things, stay in 'til spring
  9. I'm down to about 6-7 Housemartins now. Probably too old to fly south. Incidentally, a pigeon has just hatched 2 chicks (squabs) in a hazel tree in my garden, rather late in the year don't you think ?
  10. Any fresh snow to report ?? Must be waist deep by now
  11. I'm thinking seriously of converting some old outbuildings into Offices, but I know they're home to a LOT of bats. Any suggestions ?? I could always call them Night Flying Sparrows I suppose
  12. All done, 2 ltrs of Sloe Gin, 1 ltr of Damson & 1 ltr of hedgerow (Elderberry, sloe, damson & Blackberry). Roll on Xmas
  13. 2 buzzards, a passing kestrel, Male Sparrowhawk, a pigeon currently nesting on 2 squabs in a hazel tree, 2 poss' 3 green woodpeckers are usually somewhere in the orchard, moorhens and mallards in the flighting pond & all the usual tits, sparrows etc.
  14. http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=40173 Easy Tiger. Is this banned or not ?? Come on Mods, you can't Cut & Paste, we can either let fly or we can't :o
  15. Just dusted down the old boneshaker for an afternoon trundle around the local lanes (& the Red Lion) & was amazed to see neighbouring farmers' hedges given severe cuts already. I've always been told that Feb/March is the best time, as the winter fruits have been eaten & nesting hasn't started yet. Cut back to the bare branches in August deprives birds of winter food. Shame.
  16. Cheers Rabbit, the top 1 is my new desktop background. Very uplifting !!
  17. Always improves with the addition of a good sized ice-cube I find The old chestnut about only picking sloes when the frost has had them is a bit strange, pick now & freeze overnight does the same as far as I can taste. My sloe crop is rather poor this year, so it's Damson gin for me for a change. PM me for a good recipe if you want. I'm also thinking of trying a mixed jar of "Hedgerow Gin" (blackberries, elderberry, raspberry etc), purely for research you'll understand, will keep you posted.
  18. Quite correct Nick, I lived about 8-9 miles from Pontypool (about 310 mts up) at the time, & it seemed to go on & on. School was pretty hit & miss for a month or two, not a bad thing when you're 14 !!
