  1. Surely won't be too long now before someone posts a chart from Jan '63
  2. Let's get this straight, the UK has tremors - other countries have quakes. In much the same way as my wife has sniffles, I have the flu
  3. I feel quite embarassed on the school run, it's better suited to gunning down Gooks in Fallujah. Roof mounted machine-gun not listed in the access' list unfortunately
  4. http://www.jeep.co.uk/jeep/vehicle.aspx?ID=709,32 This is my beast (well the wife lets me drive it if I'm good) - squirrels fall from the trees as we cruise past
  5. Thousands did when a whale was spotted up the Thames. A GWS is the ultimate maritime/pelagic "Spot" as far as myself & many others are concerned. Was lucky enough to cage dive off the coast of Cape Town about 8 yrs ago - nearly messed my wetsuit, a truly awesome & terrifying experience. One I'll never forget, the GWS was only a tiddler at a mere 15ft !!
  6. In reckon it's bloke from the Tourist Board in a shark suit. All this bad weather's kept the holidaymakers away, and in a desperate attempt to fill up the local hotels they've resorted to this !!
  7. Hi TEITS, seems a bit daft even having this thread, when all the highs came in the spring not the summer. Haven't been able to record a summer temp' - my rainfall monitor has been washed away !!
  8. They deserve it . Price of petrol these days...blah blah....
  9. General consensus down the Pub last night was that out of the 6 of us, 4 didn't have a clue what was recyclable or not, 1 was hyper-cluedup and even he was confused about the council's criteria of what can & can't be thrown in our new superduper bins. The other 1 (ahem....me  ) has virtually given up & just throws the lot in the fireplace or has a regular bonfire in the garden. However, amongst us all, burning it was the most popular way forward. I'm sure this was not what the Council had in mind when their Enviro' Guru took over.
  10. mmmm, wet hot dogs  You may be taking slightly more water in your whisky than you'd anticipated.
  11. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/...t_warnings.html More fun & games for tonight/tomorrow. Just as I was about to get the garden chairs out of the stable !!
  12. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/...t_warnings.html *sigh* This all I need
  13. No doubt Big Gordon's Helicopter is winging its way back from Gloucestershire, it'll touchdown in London just in time for the 6pm news. He can blame GW again & get Hilary Benn off the hook for the 2nd time today
  14. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/core/Content/di...te=4&page=0 Great quote "I hope those newts are happy in my living room" !!
  15. I seem to recall that this was the problem in Hull 2 weeks ago. The weirs weren't allowed to be opened because of the protected colony of newts on the other side of it Here's hoping that West London is newt free !!
  16. Good news, big Gordon's visited the scene http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6911576.stm With a quick shimmy of the hips he's managed to blame climate change, awesome
  17. The Agencies that deal with floods, rivers etc will never be properly funded until London floods. Or is the cynic in me just speaking out of turn ??? (bad dog )
  18. The METO issue a weather warning & the Media go into overdrive. GMTV, BBC Breakfast, Sky News etc etc, they're all out in force this morning with up to the minute reports from a puddle near you !!!!!! I've seen presenters stood next to canals, rivers, lakes, all desperate to tell us what may happen. Obviously a slow news day. Not one mention of GW though, well done. Climate change is now the buzzword
  19. I'm right with you DRH. Spent 5 yrs living in Saudi, had enough heat to last me a lifetime. This is perfect !! Roll on the autumn.......
  20. Are trees taboo on NW ?? I'm going to collect sack fulls of acorns, beechnuts, conkers etc this autumn, set up a website & sell them to gullible hippies who can plant them & ease their conscience for say....£10 a go. I might even throw in a plastic pot to put them in
