  1. Seriously? Theres a lot of high pressure dominance in all the ops, the mean, the anomalies, any troughing currently is in deep fi and has little support. The sun is strong, whilst theres little real heat, theres plenty of dry, sunny, warm weather on offer even if some nights might be chilly. Even so, i reiterate, its still a better start to june/summer then we have had for many years.
  2. Sorry this is totally incorrect. The anomaly charts NEVER showed a southeasterly, nor are they showing a northwesterly. They are and have consistently shown an upper southwesterly.
  3. Oh good grief... What are you lot on about? The outlook really isnt that bad!
  4. Fair point Edit... Hold on, no it isnt, in his location theres still a negetive precipitation forecast, so less then average rain.
  5. Youre right, funny how those trying to put a miserable take on the weather overlook the other data that proves their negetivity wrong. Lol
  6. The 12z gfs doesnt worry me. Its still alot better then several early junes in the last eight years... Theres no june monsoon so more cooler then average and drier then average is still pleasant.
  7. oh dont get me wrong here, im not suggesting that this june will follow '75s , next weeks high im sure isnt 'here to stay' for the summer. i was just compareing this week to the corresponding week in 75. apologies if my last post could be construed as such.
  8. yes, the uppers suggest next weeks expected high to be cool, but its JUNE! the sun is high and very strong in the sky. the air sourced from a more cool northerly latitude will be clear and fresh (assuming we dont get north sea stratus), in the clear air it will feel superb in the sun! heat without humidity suits most.
  9. erm... its not 'just one' gfs run thats suggesting mid latitude high pressure dominance next week. so no. thats the million dollar point though, assuming we do get it, will it be the only decent spell of the summer?... who knows, but for now im happy to get what the charts are suggesting..... as long as we dont get too much cloud off the north sea . this is possible early on in particular IF the high is orientated so. ive kept mentioning 'june 1975'... and whilst we havnt had the snow (40 years ago today!) and possibly not the high temps that made the first week in june extra-ordinary, there are very strong parellels this year... it has started off cold and will get warmer as the week progresses.
  10. a pretty satisfying outlook from sunday , high pressure domination, sunny , dry, fresh feeling , warm in the strong sun, but without the humidity many dislike about summer warmth. it might not be 'the best start to june since 1975' but if this verifies (which is likely) itll be a lot better then many starts to june.
  11. whilst a agree that 20 - 25c is very pleasantly warm , and not to be sniffed at, i like heat (above 25c) so it remains warm in the evenings and we get that rare event of sitting out in the garden on a summers evening comfortably.
  12. cheers.... ill try to get my head around these... please feel free to correct me anytime , otherwise i (we) will never learn
  13. Hi dont those anomaly charts show a trough to our west?.. the green lines dip there then rise to our east, the upper airflow is southwest is it not? i cant see a high to our west like the one i posted from the gfs on those charts, but a high to our east/ southeast in southern europe? id have thought this cherry picked chart from the gem was closer to what the noaa charts show is it not? anyway, im happy to be wrong , its part of the learning curve !
  14. very nice, but has no support from the anomaly charts which suggest a mean upper trough to our west/southwest pumping up southwesterlies across the uk. so, for me, until these charts change, ill not believe the ops penchant for building mid latitude pressure after next weekend.
  15. Cant see it being cool/cold after wednesday, whilst it might not be silly high temps itll still be warm/average either with warm muggy uppers or fresh clear northwesterlies which will feel great in the strong sun. Im not disheartened, plenty of warmer weather on offer
  16. .... but its looking like it might be turning rather wet, the anoms show a warm/unsettled outlook. i like the heat and warmth, but i dont like the june monsoon. from a working outdoors pov, id probably prefer the cool fresh northwesterly which has been very nice some days in the strong sun, to grey, wet, muggy, conditions even if its warmer.
  17. tbh... weather doesnt 'kill' old people.... being old does. no matter whether its heat or cold, people slowly get more infirm and weak. weather extremes only bring on the inevitable.
  18. ha... didnt we have a similar scenario last year or earlier?... im sure a promised, supported, consistently expected hot spell was downgraded to a 12 hour wonder. thats the problem with rapid pressure build...they dont last or appear not to last as the mobile atmosphere that allows them to build is also responsible for their lack of longevity. no real point in viewing the ops from next sunday onwards, they are an inconsistent mess! but the anoms knocker posted will give the best indication as to what lies in store.... and they look warm but unsettled, with high to our east, upper low to our southwest. so the 'best start to june since 1975' (my quote) looks like being another dud. pity, id prefer early heat. never mind...its only weather.
  19. Well said sir! Spot on. Imlooking foreward to this possible heat, at worst itll be warm, some june heat is long overdue and a long hot summer is long overdue... 9 years since the last... And no, 2013/2014 only had a couple of hot weeks and dont compare to the summers of 75,76,83,95,03,06 etc
  20. Plus... Do you make such requests in winter when bitter cold and snow cause major health problems for the old and infirm? Thought not.
  21. Consideration? Are we heat lovers not supposed to rejoice in that because some people dont like it or are effected by it? Sorry... I got told to stf up when the cold spring the other year lost me 20% of my income. I got no consideration when i was losing money whilst others were revelling in their favoured weather type. Ill certainly not restrict my enjoyment at the heat we might get this summer... Bring it on!
  22. im determined to see them this year.... even if it means not drinking (for me, almost impossible) so i can go out at dusk, select a decent viewpoint, and wait!
  23. .... and i dont get why people rejoice at being cold. i guess its all down to personal preferences, ill enjoy the heat and humidity - i can tollerate that far more then cold.
