  1. Hope your enjoying your Bank Holidays.. There may be some hints of less settled conditions come later next weekend...but the GFS 6z is not really keen on the idea..it becomes an absolute peach! With High pressure in a much more favourable position! Trend setter...or will the 12s drop the idea! Uncertainty will become big player over the next week. Live it large folks.
  2. 1st out of the blocks is the ICON.. and trust me it delivers! If anything the High is sinking more SE later in the run..a bit like UKMO earlier. Perhaps better sunshine amounts for places that are missing out currently moving forward. Whatever your poison...have a super Bank Holiday folks.
  3. Ok @sparky1972...just to add some weight to this for you..I will take a punt at it for you....Tonight's EC46 keeps us largely settled through till the 9th of September...Low pressure influence becomes a bigger player from the NW beyond this.. more unsettled with some wet weather and stronger winds at times, and this will be more noticeable towards the NW..There are tentative signs of a recovery in pressure towards the South, come the final 3rd of the month! With the possibility of much better conditions as we close the end of it. All along way off..but that's how it's looking for now.
  4. Gem looking good...warm uppers across the UK..and a noticeable cold pool across Greenland ??
  5. I will give you some idea later this evening when the EC46 runs..surface details will be impossible at that range, but perhaps I will have some idea regarding the pressure patterns. But at this range,it could be way out.
  6. The Gem is a Diamond. 10 days of High Pressure controlled conditions. I said yesterday perhaps more favourable cloud breaks in the Midlands...well I got my wish...and why its impossible to predict surface conditions days in advance with this set up! Cloudy one day...sunny the next.
  7. ECM...we keep saying this I know! But good lord, anything like this come a few months time, and this place will be In meltdown...this is Greenland Blocking at its very best my friends. A tease!! Or a taste of things to come..check the uppers to the NORTH!
  8. GEM hints at a touch of Eastwards movement of the High Mike..looking good either way for the settled theme to continue..The sun is finally coming out here at nearly 6!! I've waited all day with the deckchair!! Now it's bloody tea time Seriously i ain't bothered. You win some, you lose some.
  9. Hi Shaky...im hopeful the Midlands will improve over the next couple of days, with cloud amounts breaking better. Just had a glance at the UK as an whole, and it's glorious across the South Coast...you guys deserve it,even after 3 months of moaning The SW looks cracking, the NW and the Lakes look glorious...should keep Damian happy...Central Scotland and Western Scotland, along with most of Ireland look grand yet again! Enjoy it guys...im not envious while I'm stuck under cloud cover again here, but there are signs of a break up in that cloud later. GFS 6z looks good, infact perhaps a more favourable shift in that High slightly Eastwards,to bring other areas into the summary conditions later this Weekend! Wow...dont tell me we could be looking at a settled Bank Holiday period, and potentially sunny! It's been a shocking year in the UK for many reasons here in the UK... I think we deserve a little cheer!
  10. The surface conditions will probably change and there will be daily variations...the forecast for the Midlands is an improving picture through the Bank Holiday according to the Midlands news this evening. You only live 20 or so miles up the road from me I believe. I do believe Stafford is part of the Shropshire constabulary! I don't think its going to be as bad as your making out mate.
  11. As the nights grow longer, the High grows stronger...pretty much sums it up
  12. There is a strong possibility that the Huge amount of ice melt over Greenland and strong blocking in the area is playing a role in the lack of Eastwards progression in those Tropical storms! That's recently been mentioned by Judah.
  13. EC46 update perhaps a tad more positive than last weeks...plenty of High pressure conditions for much of the time. The Bank Holiday is looking fine!! Now that's a start...Possibly remaining settled through until the 2nd week of September...then we have the first signs of things gradually becoming more unsettled from the NW...so with a bit of luck,a good couple weeks of settled conditions.
  14. Wow mate...I never new ants were full of protein...thats gonna save me 30 quid a month now..
  15. Yes Twistergirl...you sound like a superhero or something The SE usually gets its own little macro climate at this time of the year,so it's definitely been a strange one.. im sure business as normal will resume next year though @Kentspur nowt wrong with some early optimism...im off the belief that solar minimum, and coming out of it as lead to a weak and meandering jetstream...hence blocking setting up to the North more frequently! Personally I think this year could be one of our best chances of a proper Winter! I'm hearing there as been record amounts of Glacier melt in Greenland this year...but alot less Ice melt in other Arctic regions than previously! I've got a feeling blocking could be quite prevalent this year!! But long way off,but an interesting countdown beckons.
  16. Not very often we see a plume of very warm air being pulled up the Western side of the UK...GEM looks pretty solid for these locations. Look away now you Londonders You seem to have developed your own little....not macro climate..but Arctic climate
  17. You lot West and Northwest should be happy with the UKMO this evening...plenty of sun and warm temps with it. Just a little concern for more E/SE parts regarding a cooler flow and problematic cloud amounts as that High pulls more to the NW...apart from that some good late summer conditions to enjoy.
  18. It looks to me that its turned out nicer today than many on here thought...and Stafford looks grand 2nd day here of largely blue skies,we are around 22c currently, and tbh its sublime. Parts of Ireland are close to 25c...very nice. You know what guys...I can tell its been a poor summer around here, due to the ice cream van man not coming round!! Guess what...he's been around twice today....he must have one hell of a load off flake 99s to get rid off At long last something to cheer about! And it looks fab for the rest of the week in many areas away from that North Sea murk making machine. Gfs control looks a peach. Enjoy if you can. Ohh and to finish on a lighter note...the sun newspaper puts this warm spell down to a 700 mile warm blob in the Atlantic!! That's a really scientific summary I must say! Had to
  19. I've been saying for some time the final 3rd would improve,I was becoming less confident of a Hot spell though as time went by. You can't really blame those on the model thread(me included) for predicting better conditions though,I mean look at the met updates...for weeks there write ups would include hotter spells becoming more likely! Only goes to show how difficult it is to make long range predictions in the UK....And those that do,deserve credit!
  20. Mate if I had a quid for everytime someone posts a chart, and you say it looks cold grey and windy here I would be loaded..you must live on an oil rig in the middle of the North Sea It looks like more prone NE/E/SE areas that could be troubled with gloom and cooler temps at times, many other places looking pretty good..UKMO at day 7? High pressure in control. Ps..dont be trusting BBC video forecasts..
  21. Are you telling me the outlook is nae bad pete Yep next week big improvement to what many have endured recently...I would have though a trip to the West Coast for instance could be a good idea.
  22. Met office app for here stating increasingly sunny and warm, perhaps very warm Western parts Pete Monday to Thursday. GFS 6z looking OK so far. So it looks like some locations can get there deckchairs back out through the coming week...could be some cloud issues further East, hopefully it burns back for you.
  23. The forum is dead...wots a going on! looks like I'm gonna have to dust of the cobwebs and hit the tiles.. All I can say is...these charts will bring the place down if they start cropping up in a few months time...just look at the NH profile....wowzers Have a fab evening.
  24. Well mate for someone who spends so much of his time moaning about the UK conditions,I would consider yourself very privileged to be able to spend 5 weeks abroad! I can't afford 5 days in a boarding house I can imagine it now...5 weeks abroad...as soon as you land you will be on meteociel and be thinking...sod this,I'm off back.
