It's just another Ol Blighty Day
-
Well absolutely blistering here on the east coast and very humid indeed. More like being in the Canary Islands right now that's for sure ! 25c at 12.30 and it certainly feels very oppressive with a dew point of 16.5c. This is certainly more akin to London and the South East type continental weather in July or early August. My word the humidity and heat is quite something on the Bridlington coast where it is normally struggling to get above 20c. Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy Glastonbury in the evenings. The mighty Guns and Roses are headlining tonight on the Pyramid stage - what a cracker that promises to be

Storms and Convective discussion - June 2023
matt brid replied to Supacell's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
That's because of the sea breeze tending to disperse cloud close to the east coast and the heat is a lot lower than down south ! -
4am is too early for daylight really . 6am is a lot better in my opinion as the very early sunrise times can interfere with your sleep.

Well some moderate to heavy rainfall in Bridlington this morning just for a change and everything is starting to look lush once more after a 5 to 6 week dry spell. A lovely deluge on Sunday night which was badly needed and now a decent top up this morning - really has broken the long dry spell thankfully ! Could be one or two very heavy thunderstorms this afternoon behind this main rain area but equally skies should be brightening from midday. Have a great day people and enjoy the thunderstorms this afternoon and sunshine of course

Finally some decent warmth on the Yorkshire coast and it has crept up to about 23c this afternoon which is spot on what we are looking for approaching July. Sea temperature rising too after a cold April and May. Let's hope for some decent weather going forward into July and plenty of sunshine + a few heavy showers and thunderstorms also. Have a great day people

Finally a dull start to a day after a week of very bright sunshine ! There is a shower passing through shortly but the real action will come later . Could see some high rainfall totals for parts of the region this afternoon and evening. But as ever unpredictable and a few locations may stay completely dry.

Another stunning day in Bridlington and it's almost become a normal thing now. This is good to see of course and bodes well for July and August. Will be a shock to the system to see significant cloud cover in the skies on Sunday and Monday and perhaps a few showers or thunderstorms (although this isn't nailed on). Have a great Friday everyone and come on England in the Ashes also

Well more concrete and buildings compared to back then - the UHI is stronger and it can produce some very high temperatures given the right set up. It's very dry in Bridlington which is of more concern as time passes. 19.9c top for Bridlington today actually in the end .

Greetings Mike, Well Sunday has been the best day of the year so far in Bridlington but it is still about 18c but the increased moisture makes it feel warmer than that today. It has been 29-32c in London area this weekend which would be stifling after being in cool Bridlington ! It's actually been hammering down in parts of West London from a few thunderstorms that have broken out this afternoon. We need to experience a westerly wind off the land here in Bridlington after a long time with these easterly zone winds varying in strength. Beautiful day along the coast for sure but still waiting for the FIRST official 21c of the year which is rather poor .

That's the easterly wind straight off the north sea. Bridlington is around 13 or 14c at the moment but the dewpoint is creeping up so feels warmer than that. 26c in London now and 28c in Bournemouth haha.
