  1. Absolutely stunning day in Bridlington . One could have been forgiven it was a summer's day (but without all the crowds !). Temperature has reached 15c with barely a breeze for a good part of the day and glorious bright sunshine and blue skies. Over 10 hours sunshine today for sure by the time the sun goes down which is no bad thing in mid October ! Have a great evening everyone
  2. Beautiful spell of sunshine in Bridlington this afternoon as the northerly wind tends to pick up gradually. Just cut the grass for the first time in 4 weeks so perfect day for that. Looks like a windy day or 2 coming up unfortunately and maybe a few heavy showers to boot.
  3. Well light rain falling in Bridlington over the last hour and again last night for a time. Total of 3mm and a little more now. Had some pleasant sunshine for a short time earlier and comfortable temperatures. Notice the temperature is slipping back now gradually as this front edges south. Looks like some distinctly cool nights to come later this week under a northerly airflow.
  4. Back to a crazy crazy long weekend as the madness intensifies around the seaside resorts. It will be every man ,woman and dog for themselves on Monday as long long queues build up around the country. Oh Ol Blighty I salute thee We're going back to a default setting in the weather over the next few days (often seen in April and early May) with cool east to north east wind down the eastern side of the country. Today will be the best day of the bank holiday weekend for sunshine .
  5. Well still raining in Bridlington so approaching 3 hours of light to moderate steady rainfall. Wasn't expecting more than an hour today but there you go that's the weather for you. Definitely an autumnal feel to the day after such a hot day yesterday !
  6. 2 heavy showers overnight which were brief but very enjoyable to hear ! And now an hour of light to moderate rainfall which is an unexpected treat (as the heavy rainband further south was about 50 miles further west than expected). 1.6mm overnight from the 2 showers and now a few more mm from this late morning / lunch time rainfall. It feels like autumn right now even though it's still fairly warm. Time for a hosepipe ban starting tomorrow
  7. Central Park is a spectacular one for sure and I visited it 3 times including on a Sunday. It was quite something to behold on the Sunday - especially the horse carriages , joggers , cyclists and pedlos constantly going around ! The sheep meadow was absolutely packed with people sunbathing also.
  8. Good morning everyone and hope you are having a great summer. Quite cloudy and pleasantly warm in Bridlington this morning in a gentle westerly or south westerly breeze. Missed out on the large rainfall totals some other areas of Yorkshire & Lincolnshire had on Tuesday night but 3mm nevertheless in pre dawn moderate showers. Actually a few spots of rain falling now (at 11.12) but not much to talk of. Have a great day people Went to New York City , beautiful and immense city !!
  9. Yes I have noticed this development .. my word rain is falling not so far away ! Bright sunshine in Bridlington at the moment, wind has picked up so that's something different.
  10. Well well well ... What is this in the sky ! Yes indeed finally some cloud cover around in Bridlington after what has been a gloriously blue skies / sunshine long spell. It's actually very pleasant out there today , perhaps a little humid. Cut the grass this morning for the first time in 3 weeks (been getting a heavy dew down overnight so that has given it plenty of moisture for growth in the shade ). Long live the great great summer of 2022 That arrives tomorrow batten down the hatches kind sir !
  11. What a fantastic week this has been in Bridlington with a vast amount of unbroken sunshine and decent temperatures. Nights have been beautiful too with a gentle breeze at times. I don't think you will get much better than this . Bridlington has rarely looked better and perhaps a glance back at the amazing summer of 1976 recently ! Also Scarborough has smashed it's old record from 1990 by around 4c last month - simply stunning ! Have a great Sunday everyone and enjoy the sunshine
  12. Yet another clear blue sky day in Bridlington with strong sunshine. Just becoming a normal thing this summer - although of course the clouds and possibly some heavy showers will be back next week. Lovely easterly breeze once again keeping the coast much cooler than inland. Also sea mist and low cloud been a feature at night recently. Bridlington was the main news feature on Look North 6.30pm programme last night. Looks like it will be gridlocked over the weekend as thousands head to the coast. Have a great weekend everyone
  13. What an absolutely spiffing Tuesday it is . Copious amounts of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. We need this all year round and really appreciate the great outdoors. I wish you all ladies and gentlemen a fantastic day ahead on the coast. Have a great day people
  14. Certainly a very pleasant day here in Bridlington. There's a gentle easterly breeze at the moment which will definitely make it feel cool tonight. Fantastic blue skies after earlier morning cloud disappeared and a high close to 21c. More of this to come this week so excellent for the school holidays !
  15. Good morning and happy weekend everyone. Some splendid weather once again after a cool night. Looks like the east coast may escape the heatwave later next week with an easterly or south easterly wind direction. Will be mighty hot inland once again - perhaps 30 in Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire . Premier League season started last night so let the battle commence properly today
  16. Breaking News : A scattering of showers are breaking out across Yorkshire now , along with a chilly north westerly wind. Batten down the hatches everyone and stay safe - temperatures are also below 20c
  17. It's just another Ol Blighty Day as they say !
  18. A beautiful day in Brid with plenty of sunshine and some patchy fair weather clouds . The difference being the big reduction in humidity . A true summer's day here for sure and pleasantly warm (but equally burning in direct sun). Very happy with this and would take this any day of the year . Pleasantly cool for sleeping also - days getting shorter so the little bit of extra darkness makes for a better night's sleep. Have a great day people
  19. An excellent posting Mike - and for sure you are spot on about the hottest days coming from a windy south westerly set up.I used to believe the highest temperatures here in the summer come from calm conditions, but this is often not the case - as a sea breeze starts to kick in from late morning or early afternoon. What's needed is a fresh westerly / south westerly or possibly southerly wind direction and decent heat inland. Then temperatures can shoot up here (no sea breeze of course in that set up). I remember the hot day in 2018 and it was around 29-30c . It was a sweltering day and with a moderate to fresh south westerly wind blowing. It's a lot cooler tonight now the humidity has disappeared over the last 5 hours . Last night was very humid indeed !
  20. Yes best summer since 2018 in Brid for sure and probably before that !
