Storms and Convective discussion - June 2023
Saint coolio replied to Supacell's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Incredible how different that is to the forecasts maps they had on bbc news earlier, which basically had a scattering of loads of little showers all over the place. -

Really strong shower in that “crud” just north of Southampton. It’s chucking it down. -
Wasn't there a similar rip current near the pier a couple of years ago? I seem to recall 15 people or more had to be rescued. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned in any of the recent press. edit: found the newslink: Mass rescue of 17 caught in rip current off Bournemouth WWW.BBC.CO.UK The group were seen by lifeguards being pulled out to sea in a powerful rip current on Monday.

Well I’m up in london today and the cloud’s a bit overhyped I reckon - sun’ll be out soon I reckon.

First time was all about fever, stomach problems (sympathy for you there - it lasted for days), nothing respiratory at all. Truly appalling. Second time, a light cold. this time it’s all about terrible throat and cough. Bizarre to thing it’s even the same thing- completely different each time. feeling well enough to get out for a walk today - hope you’re soon better

Model Output Discussion - New Year and Beyond
Saint coolio replied to BlueHedgehog074's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
You can forget your models. All you need to know is I’m flying out of Heathrow on 3rd feb, and every other time* in the last 25 years I’ve tried to get away in the winter to somewhere warm, there’s been some sort of ridiculous blizzard and I’ve missed a connection. *ok, so 3 times. But once we got bumped out of the de-icer queue by Concorde, so there’s that. -
I know it’s rained a bit and also there’s been a bit of ice, but the last couple of days the train lines to london have fallen down a hill and half the roads near us have been closed for ages due to black ice. Don’t want to be “that guy”, but has everything gone to pot?! Heaven help us if we ever get a 63 winter again

Weather in the general media (Newspaper features etc)
Saint coolio replied to Summer Sun's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
21:57 bbc news weather… they showed the “forecast” from yesterday evening instead of today’s and there’s me not knowing what day of the week it is. -
Major Hurricane Ian.

I’ve no idea what mesovortices are… presumably something tornado like? -
Major Hurricane Ian.
Saint coolio replied to matty40s's topic in Hurricanes, Cyclones and Extreme weather worldwide
Looks like a potential catastrophe- but having said that I saw some video just now from the village in Captiva and, though flooded with trees down, it looked at least like buildings were standing. I was fearful everything would just be gone. -
Major Hurricane Ian.

I’ve been there a couple of times too. Hard to imagine there’ll be much left
