People moaning about high level cloud, flagging instability for our region should really really visit the forecast as this is expected. Elevated convection in morning SE and thru day. Surface bases elsewhere, it's very hot and I'm of in SE this morning and it really does look thundery on the skys. Stop being so negative and calling a busy already. !! -

I'm hoping the low has won, when looking at sat 24 the movement around the low seems to be pumping the storms further north, and I turn keeping the front stuck across the uk, I believe the warm unstable air has reached the SW uk hence the warning and hence the current development -

I don't know. My gut feeling says we are in for a treat tonight. Looks to be more unstable than thought can confirm Sahara dust all over cars here too -

Anyone got there wus on the stuff in the bay off biscay. It seems S-N flow and further west as if you check meteor alarm red warning for south east France but seems to look to miss that and impact NW and W France, could it bring the storms prospected this evening 50miles or so further west? -

I'm not sure but from they're warning i gather that due to the speed of the storms the only thing that would suffice a worming is damage to buildings and power cuts from lightning. But looking at every 5mins grab can see where they're coming from, and reports of all PpN being elevated is probably a factor too. Not to sure I was curious, but this is the answer I've got from a tad of research -

When the speed of storms is not enough for rain to be an issue the only thing to warn of is lightning -

Worth noting the trough that is causing them organised thunderstorms is new and not forecast to S W uk, anything can happen I guess. Also the front changed back to a warm front from now until as it moves away. Interesting weather ahead? How far will that feature move inland and will a warm front cause more in the way of storms tonight! My answer is yes ! -

Wow. Atone going for a nice widespread thunderstorm tonight. I can't lie the way this set up is, the rarity of it, the lack of recent days the same in many years has been hard to forecast. But with everything shunted north a bit I feel it's gonna go bang. Over and out till later -

Although not all that. There is some activity associated with the front, always a nowcast situation. Looking at the radar you wouldn't think so. Some could be in with a little treat today. Especially the south east corner where surface heating is in the rise, and when the front sinks out and across to France I believe we will produce some exports in the home counties , london and SE, the rain seems to be either north and is actually following ECM with heat hanging on in SE and heavy thunder rain ️ the heat we had yesterday and the bias between models, I knew something would happen today just a case of where and when ! also I'm in luton and the sun has been out all morning. And is still out. The forecast was cloud and rain., this could in fact turn out quite well today -

I missed the flash but I'm sure your on about this I'm sorry but I have to say I've been lucky this year with being in brighton on the may 18th and today a surface based with shotgun thunder, I promise I recorded for 5 minutes and nothing so gave up. Stop the recording then flash. Typical !! couldn't get the flash IMG_5302.MOV IMG_5301.MOV IMG_5302.MOV -

Just had a flash and a loud thunder crack in luton! Niceee heavy shower. Edit 3 flashes and 3 deep rumbles always better when it's surface based !! Nothing beats that sound IMG_5297.MOV IMG_5299.MOV -

So is convective weather affiliated with net weather at all because sometimes there forecasts are copy and paste ;) Good luck today all. Couple rumbles of thunder today would be nice. Can't say I expect much more than some SSS's -

Some lovely towering cumulus and CB today. Some strikes nearby however no lightning or thunder Heards. I prefer these pulse setups more chance of seeing some nice scapes ! -

Is that a hook on the bottom of that pokey cell. That's pretty insane ! Mum sent me a video just south of Chelmsford. Frequent flashes and low deep thunder she then got the camera out and showed me the river down her road ! Madness. This is most likely surface based Ona convergence zone. Being in luton I'm as they say wel jel, b ur can't complain had my share in brighton last week. This bodes well for tommorow looks like heavy showers/storms for most. Pulse st likely but still louder thunder on surface based storms and interesting structures !! IMG_5147.MOV
