  1. More to do with personal preference, but I understand for some the cold isn't viable. At least the current spell will have a positive impact for some.
  2. @Chasbrown Yeah I understand, but the fact February is now looking quite zonal its the opposite of what was forecasted.
  3. 15C here, I loathe this kind of weather. Bring back the cold, sunny days we had last week.. proper winter weather February already looks like a write off, all the background signals and seasonal forecasts are rapidly losing credibility. Truly sobering stuff this winter which looked quite promising to provide a cold month. I'll leave this here.. no words.
  4. What a ghastly chart for February, words can't describe the utter garbage the models have been showing the past few days. Something has to change.. quick!
  5. Never done with cold, will take it any time of the year given how stupidly rare it is these days.
  6. Same thoughts, mid June 2020 had some spectacular storms. The summer as a whole was quite cool, July 2020 could've easily been the coolest since 1988 but the late heatwave scuppered that. August had possibly the most humid spell of weather I can remember, incredibly uncomfortable. The final few days were quite pleasant and cool, an early start to Autumn that year.
  7. Another mild February, no surprises there. Hopefully the signal switches back to cold in a weeks time. 6.6C and 130mm. Thanks
  8. March 2013, April 2021, May 2021 would be nice.
  9. Thing is, I don't mind the mild weather.. It's the incessant rain and wind. If the upcoming spell was predominately sunny it'd be quite pleasant.
  10. Goodbye Winter, Hello Autumn Hopefully we see at least one more blast of cold in Feb, the current forecast is reminiscent of the wretched December we had.
  11. July 2023 saw 159mm rainfall and didn't exceed 25C here.. very rare to see with years normally topping 32C+ in July. In contrast the year prior saw highs of 38C and 40mm rain. Now that I think of it, if you swapped the first half of June 2022 with 2023 the summer as a whole would've been remarkably cool. 2023 saw two major heatwaves which led to two record breaking warm months, no comparison with some of the cooler years like 2007 and 2012.
  12. -9C this morning. Coldest January night since 2010, even beating the cold January 2013 and 2021 which saw longer periods of cold but nothing close to -9C.
  13. That was certainly the most intense cold spell our region has experienced since 63. Think it also holds the coldest temperature on record for Manchester. Currently -6C. I'm thinking a minima of -8/-9 is possible. -10C would be great
  14. Yep coldest January night since 2010 looks likely.. already -4C here with 12 hrs of cooling left.
  15. Leeds is at -4C 4pm. They've had an ice day today.. could be even colder tomorrow.
  16. Possibly -8C at the lowest. Touch and go on whether we get below -10C at Manchester, places like Shap and north of Burnley have a good chance. Was hoping the snowfall didn't melt from yesterday, The temperature this morning only started to dip when the fog cleared, was 0C at 6am. Currently -2C..
  17. Thursday is looking like a very cold day. Hopefully the snow sticks till then
  18. Took some pics before it all cleared away. Looks stunning down Platt Fields. The big lake was partially frozen. .
  19. Bournemouth Airport always seems to be a sweet spot for low minima. As it's quite close to the coast you wouldn't expect it.
  20. Yes it's quite the rare event. Possibly due the ground being rock solid from last night's frost. The perfect conditions for snow cover.
  21. Enjoy your day folks. Not often we get a proper snow event.. wrap up and take some great pictures
  22. A more organised set of ppn coming out way over the next few hours. 6cm on the ground already, below freezing. A spell that finally delivered.
  23. Looks like it might rain later, and then freeze up tomorrow morning. Potential lows of -7C showing up, could get down to -9. This could potentially be a very severe spell of weather. Gritters better be on standby.
  24. Certainly the best snowfall since Jan 20th 2021. The fact it's still below freezing is awesome..
