  1. Had the tiniest of dustings here, looks like most of the good stuff is further into North Shropshire. Hopefully this main band shows up later.
  2. Good to see the usual Telford snow desert in action, right above the word neigeuse on that chart! Does anyone know what causes that?
  3. Unless you work from home in a badly insulated house! I'd rather a good dumping of snow for a few days and then a nice warm-up
  4. Every winter we get these agonising snow charts where my part of the world is right on the boundary. Why can't it just be 100 miles further north to make it safe haha.
  5. I remember it well, we didn't get a sniff of it in my area! Last December was miserable for me, freezing my weeble off with a horrible cough, and barely a flake of snow to show for it. This potential spell better produce snow or it can do one haha.
  6. Been waiting a long time to see something like this Since last summer in fact, even the much vaunted June spell was much cloudier around here.
  7. I'm not going to complain about finally getting some nice weather, but it is a bit galling after a summer of cold damp visits to various zoos and farms, for it to kick in literally the day the kids go back to school!
  8. I really hope it comes off. According to the BBC app my max temp today is going to be 13C. In bloody August!
  9. Well I'm glad I eventually decided to go to Wales today and not Wednesday! It's a bit gutting because it's not exactly looking summery there for the next few days, while it's 22-23 and mostly sunny at home, but it looks like later in the week will be far worse.
  10. Same. At least once it's autumn you don't need to waste mental energy hoping for things to get better!
  11. Yeah it's a bit of a nightmare, as you say best to wait until Thursday, should have some idea if next week after Wednesday is trending up or down by then. Not expecting wall to wall sunshine, just need it to be mostly dry and 20ish degrees. Don't want to be stuck in the caravan playing Monopoly... As the resident 'weather expert' at home I'll get it in the neck if I make the wrong choice haha.
  12. Would you say Tywyn in the West Wales coast could get in on the nice spell? I really need to make a decision about the timing of a caravan holiday that could be at the start or end of next week!
  13. Yeah that's my thoughts on it exactly. Fingers crossed for a bit more clarity by Thursday, need to decide by then really.
  14. Note to self: don't go to Chester Zoo when it's under a yellow rain warning! I have a real weather dilemma coming up next week. We're going to my mum's caravan in West Wales for a few days, we have something booked on the Wednesday, so we can either go Sat-Wed, or Wed-Bank holiday Monday. I'd rather go for the longer second period, but at the moment it looks like the weather might be better for at least some of the first one. Of course, by the time we know for sure what the second period looks like, it'll be too late....Would be easier if it was just set settled for the foreseeable!
  15. So, how long until they start modeling that trough over the UK for another summer '23 weekend special?
  16. I'm driving the family a couple of hours to West Wales in a non-airconditioned car, so sod's law that will happen!
  17. Clouded over already... Was nice while it lasted haha
  18. Woken up to blue skies and the promise of, if not heat, then at least warmth. Amazing the difference a bit of high pressure can make to your mood, such a shame we've had so little of it this summer.
  19. I'd take lengthy and settled as I'm going to West Wales for a week on the 23rd. I assume we'll get neither though!
  20. Yeah you don't know how lucky you have in the South, you think you've had a bad July but I'm looking forward to a 'good' day that's no better than your average ones! And yet, the poor buggers a bit further North would be happy to have my bad days...
  21. Wow, I can't wait for this upcoming hot spell! At this point I wish it was autumn, at least then I wouldn't have to waste energy hoping it was going to get better...
  22. For 5 glorious seconds this evening the sun broke through the clouds while I was washing up. It felt like a scene from Oppenheimer. Back to drizzle now of course.
  23. This! So many evenings the sun comes out just as it's too late to warm anything up and the ground is all wet. My kids get me up at about 6 so I usually get taunted with blue skies for half an hour in the morning too, before the cloud sets in again.
  24. My whole family have proper snotty coughs now, the kind you expect in November... I officially give up on this summer, it's been a total bust!
