Model Output Discussion - Snow Watch limited edition
GokouD replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
I think lying snow may be the real issue. It's been snowing lightly all morning here in the west midlands but it's struggling to stick much. -
Model Output Discussion - A cold start to Spring?
GokouD replied to Cheshire Freeze's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Man, if this run comes off it could rival December 2017 IMBY, which is the heaviest snow I've seen while living here. -
My location seems to be right on the northern extent of what may happen Wednesday evening, and then right on the Southern extent of Thursday's snow! Bloody typical. A small shift either way and it could be brilliant, but odds are I'll see a few flakes while people 20-30 miles North and South get a pasting.

Model Output Discussion - A cold start to Spring?

No that's far South enough! I don't want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in my location haha. -

I think I could forgive the South getting all the snow in the first event if that came off! -

Model Output Discussion. 3/12/2022. How cold will it get?
GokouD replied to chionomaniac's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
That's what I'm seeing right over my house on the met office app. Fingers crossed! -
Model Output Discussion. 3/12/2022. How cold will it get?

The met office app forecast radar keeps showing a persistent swirly patch of precipitation over my area during Thursday, would be nice to end up with a surprise like this! -
Model Output Discussion - moving into Winter
GokouD replied to Community Team's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Unlikely to do much, it's the sort of volcano that creates a lot of liquid lava but it's unlikely to go bang in a big way. -
Using the not very scientific method of putting our thermostat in the shade in the garden, looks like this is about my max today. Not quite the 36 forcast, but I'm on a bit of a hill and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a degree or two higher lower down. By far the hottest I've seen while living here anyway.

Not sure what the actual temperature is here but it certainly felt roasting walking my daughter to school this morning. It's really noticeable how dry the air is too, it dries your eyes and nose out so quickly. We actually seem to be rid of the high cloud that's been hanging around the last few days, so it certainly feels like it's going to go really high today.

BBC Weather app has 39 for me on Monday, Met Office has just 34. Kind of hoping the Met Office is right to be honest, I'm already sweating on 23 degrees today haha.

Model Output Discussion - Autumn arrives
GokouD replied to Cheshire Freeze's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Woah, this is the first chart I've seen with a 40 over my location. I don't think we've had much higher than 32 while I've lived here! -
Think it's going overhead here now, absolutely hammering it down, turning a bit sleety, very gusty wind.

Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
It's finally gusting up a bit here now, don't think it's going to cause carnage but at least it feels like something is happening! Although looking at the photos that's probably for the best! -
Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I wish my daughters would close in Telford. I don't think the winds are going to be lethal here, but it's the last day if term and it'd be nice not to have to risk it. -
Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
My mum just messaged me to thank me for the warning about the weather, but she has to give a friend a lift in the morning at 8, down the valley from Ystradgynlais in South Wales. BBC app currently showing 84 MPH gusts there at that time! I really think she should reconsider... -
Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I wouldn't be surprised if there's the odd gust that gets that high, but my experience of winds around here suggests it'll mostly be breezy with 40-50 mph gusts. Windy for sure, but not something I'll be telling the grand-kids about in 30 years! -
Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I know it's going to be disruptive, but I can't help wishing I still lived in Swansea anyway... Looks like I'm in the boring zone, too far south for a snow chance, too far north for anything exceptional wind-wise. -
Storm Eunice - 18th February
GokouD replied to Thunder and Lightning's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I think so yes, assuming the storm happens as currently forecast, it will have to go red for at least some of the warning area. -

Too good to be true for my location! Pleeeease come off like this! -
Why did I move from Wolverhampton to Telford?! Nothing here but wind and snapped trees!
