  1. Starting to come down out there, sticking to the paths and good coverage on the grass, just almost went a**e over tit putting the bins out
  2. Just started up here again getting a covering on the roofs and on the grass and the slushy pre stick you get on the ground, fingers crossed it'll give a good covering once it goes dark
  3. Been snowing here on and off since around 8am, going between heavier bursts and light but failing to stick apart from the small collection around the front of the shed and on the kids treehouse.
  4. Or December, I quite enjoy the prospect of snow near or around Christmas
  5. I'm all for a cold easterly blast but only at the right time of year, it's getting on in winter now and I'm hoping for something spring like in the next few weeks, cold blast useless if the snow ain't going to stick around
  6. I don't know what it is but I've felt like the after xmas darkness hasn't seemed as bad this year as it has other years, very well could be due to the decent spell of weather we've had recently, definitely noticing the difference in how much lighter the evenings are getting even on a cloudy sunset yesterday it was still fairly light around 5:30pm, looking forward to the long sunny evenings once again.
  7. I'm thinking end of March beginning of April around Easter time. And a possible first blast of summer warmth to follow in the weeks ahead
  8. Couldn't agree more, although we didn't experience any heavy rain up this area that clear sharp line as the cold front started to come through, went from cloudy dross to clear crisp skies very much like when you get a large high pressure system in the summer finally coming through after weeks of endless cloud, hopefully it might be a change to something more seasonal.
  9. happy new year to you wonderful lot on here hope you had a fantastic christmas, have been treated to a thunderstorm on the 1st day of the year some good flashes and some very loud thunder along with a heavy hail shower, hopefully this might be the year for storms for all of us storm lovers with widespread storms for all
  10. Merry Christmas to you lovely lot on here, hope you and your families have a good one
  11. It only occurred to me that its the winter solstice today, crazy thinking that from now to the 21/22nd June the days will be getting longer again even if its not noticeable until mid/late Feb
  12. I'm far from an expert when it comes to the charts but with those -10 uppers across the country it looks like another reload of cold is due across the country although if I'm not mistaken that low to the s/w needs keeping an eye on, hopefully not a spoiler and although right out in fi its still a chart worth getting excited over
  13. gfs looking like it wants to re introduce the cold around or just after christmas even if just for a short time before the pesky mild s/w flow breaks through again but at the moment i'll take anything as i'm already missing the seasonal feel of last week
  14. currently -6 in Telford at the moment and very icy conditions but beautiful clear blue skies, looks very much like a scene from Switzerland
  15. I know it's right out in fi but for a second I thought I was looking at the forecast for Oslo until I realised it was set on my location
  16. I've noticed for my area they are showing snow at around day 10 and I've found them to be more reliable f recently
  17. I'm no expert when it comes to reading charts, most of my knowledge has come from you bunch of geniuses on here but that definitely looks like a battleground between cold and mild on the 18z gfs run there, hoping for the cold to win out and we get to see some seasonal weather in the run up to and hopefully Christmas
  18. If that doesn't say chilly I don't know what does, it'll be interesting to see what the gfs 06z has in store...
  19. Woke up to the first really foggy morning of the season although as said above its probably largely due to all the remnants of last nights fireworks and bonfires, speaking of stupid neighbours thought it was a great idea to let off a humongous rocket inches away from my kitchen window which almost blew my window out. Small gardens on a new build estate everyone practically lives on top of one another, not a great idea for fireworks. Anyway rant over hope you all have a good Sunday
  20. Surprised I'm still mowing the lawn at this point, latest date in the past has been mid October, if the rain holds off over the weekend long enough its going to need another trim along with tidying up the shed. Fun weekend planned
  21. some brill photos and videos on here, not expecting much in the Midlands although would be a nice surprise. Had to come here as soon as I saw severe t.storms and possible tornado risk being forecast
  22. I don't think we should quite write off any cold synoptics for this winter too yet, as comparisons have been made from previous years with a similar autumn to what we are having now its all to play for, I remember some members on here (myself included) thinking the summer was going to be a write off when it was still very changeable and cool around mid May and look at the summer we've just had probably if not one of the hottest on record, so as I say anything could happen
  23. Wasn't 2014 the year with temps around 21c in some parts of the UK on Halloween, I remember it well as it was the first year we moved into our current home
