  1. Can you tell me what I'm looking for on these maps as a coldie?? Been a fab week hasn't it. Yes, one more covering would be nice!!!
  2. For Manc 5th Jan to 11th Jan 1.5 below. 12th to 18th 4 below. 2.75 below for the 2 weeks. So very cold 2 weeks based on 91 to 2010. Not sure cet but think over the 2 weeks it would be borderline cold very cold fortnight. Week from 12th very cold either way. Damn, I wished these cold spells lasted longer!!!!
  3. Agree with most of what you say, but where did you get the impression that we were set up for a Jan 10 set up?? The only things I heard like that were heresay. None of the main forecasters suggested that. In any winter this would have been classed as a very cold spell. The likes of Jan 2010 are few and far between in my lifetime. Only Jan's I remember were 1979, 1981 ish, 1985 and 2010! 1987 was brief but severe
  4. Yes, February's are truly awful nowadays. Fingers crossed and let's hope the weather behaves. My optimism based on credible forecasts for Feb. As to how cold though, not sure. Feb 18nwas memorable but I as all about 1 week though really
  5. Just done a few checks and Manchester has had decent snowfalls for 6 out of last 7 years. Maybe the lack of easterlies in recent years is our friend!!
  6. The beautiful villages of the Southern Lake District have had 2 direct hits this winter and how pretty they were. Calenders will picture postcode for next year
  7. Been a belting cold spell. Widespread frosts and some good snow as well. If only Jan was for just these last 2 weeks. Would have been a very cold month! It's these pesky mild periods which seem to be so mild nowadays. Whatever's going on with the weather, my neck of the woods been good for snowfalls for a few years now
  8. Anyone coldies 1got a good feeling about Feb?? 2nd week onwards I reckon. The SSW may have an effect
  9. Both seem confident ish of some colder weather Feb. Met O using the E word as well! Id like that if it happened!!
  10. Strange, I live 6 miles south of Manc at 210 feet and snow pretty much gone. Came into Manchester and there's still a covering in a few places. Manc 100 feet. Must have been a bit heavier just a fee miles away
  11. The snow that night just about got to us from east. 3 inches. Presume same for you??? Sorry, for Griff
  12. No rapid thaw here. Should still be snow on ground tonight which, with any luck, will stick around till weekend. Could be some sneaky snow showers Thursday also. TBH, am banking this one! Not convinced. Were always marginal in low areas and no real melt here yet. Even as a kid they often turned to slush
  13. Moderate to heavy now in Stockport Brings to mind I think it was 20 Dec 2009
