  1. Just had/having a thunderstorm in C London at the moment, rain absolutely biblical with sporadic thunder and lightning. Just as I typed, exceptionally close CG but very quiet thunder! Wonder if it hit the Shard or another skyscraper.
  2. No sooner as I type, the line of convection becomes electrified across the Midlands...hopefully this will extend right along the line. Edit - strike across EA, so this seems to be happening!
  3. Seems to be a line of convection developing across Essex, drifting slowly SW'wards towards London. Development nothing as quick as yesterday and nothing electrical yet. Very warm and quite humid in London so should assist with developments.
  4. Precip intensifying near Chesham - could spark soon
  5. Blitzortung showing new cell firing NE of Basingstoke/S of Reading New sferic from Heathrow cell too.
  6. I chased down there for the storms a couple of weeks ago and that was great. Dymchurch/Romney area is fantastic for storm gazing!!
  7. While the Heathrow/Thorpe cell has sparked itself out, radar suggests a few fresh developments around the southern periphery...no sparks yet
  8. W London still going for it, some flashes becoming very bright indeed!!
  9. Looks to me like potential cells trying to develop more over C London, but that could be wholly wrong as I'm relying on what little I can make out in the fading light!
  10. Same here, gorgeous display. Clouds here can't seem to make their minds up as to what way they're heading....
  11. The cells are exploding at quite a rate across W London, being able to make out the bulging dome updraughts in the twilight and the increasing illuminations (in fact one neat dome has become an anvil already while typing). Looks stunning from here.
  12. Can see the Lightning from here from the W London cell(s) - awesome!
  13. These thunderstorms haven't abated the heat or humidity a jot. Just as warm and (unsurprisingly) even more humid outside. Still getting some awesome CGs across London (a +CG just then!)
  14. A number of VERY close CGs dropping around the office....this is awesome!
  15. Absolutely torrential in C London now, close flash just a few seconds ago too.
  16. Just heard first really elevated crackle of thunder, though shortly before witnessed an awesome multiple stroke CG, although still out over S London...very slow progress. Edit - much closer flash then, but thunder really quite feeble lol.
  17. Very unlikely an MCS, more a collection of multiple cells. I am hoping that their merging together (as they seem to be doing on the radar) doesn't disrupt the updraughts to the extent it chokes off electrical activity.
  18. ...and really not moving very far very quickly. Would not be surprised to read reports of flash flooding and possible disruption due to lightning strikes. Can see the flashes from here but frustratingly struggling to get closer. With no open-able windows, not been possible to hear any thunder thus far.
  19. Skies to the south here going darker and darker, lots of undulatus asperatus appearing ahead of it. Unfortunately unable to keep a trained eye on it but just managed to glimpse a CG from just behind the Shard (as you look)
  20. Indeed! Just standing outside watching a tower going up overhead and the humidity is just climbing and climbing View to my South
  21. Like being in a tropical country today - haze all around but can just make out the tops of clouds, including an anvil and some towering Cu/AcCas
  22. Humidity has rocketed in the past 90 minutes in London!!!
  23. Too difficult to verify here as the skies are turning increasingly hazy. I can see one lump of AcCas poking up, so instability clearly on the rise.
