  1. And for those who might need help with interpreting those panels....?
  2. Which is good, seeing as it's actually still AUTUMN! Easy to forget the start of winter is still a couple of weeks away yet!
  3. I’m sure we had a general “model chit-chat” type thread last year. However we’re in danger of having too many model threads as there’s at least two already.
  4. I see where you're coming from. However the key for me is: "However, should this come off, then this change will likely be short lived, with more settled conditions becoming re-established by the middle of December" They don't seem convinced that the Atlantic will even make any inroads at all!
  5. Big change from yesterday's update which stated "However, there is an increased chance of less cold conditions arriving as weather systems moving in from the Atlantic." Today's update is certainly a lot less convincing for that outcome.... Good news if you're a coldie.
  6. Or block the posters whose posts you don’t want to see - makes for a much more pleasant experience!

  8. "El Niño years are one factor that can increase the risk of colder winters in the UK. " - quote from https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/ocean/el-nino

  10. I didn't realise Matt was back! Last I looked he hadn't tweeted for 7 months!
  11. Bonfire Night is T+300..... far too far away to be worrrying about wind and rain yet.
  12. The problem could have been a perception of hubris Crewe? But yes I completely agree, I’m not getting particularly excited in October, but nonetheless the patterns are great to see, however long they may last.
  13. When you say “long term”, what sort of time period are you talking about? Its only the middle of October.....
  14. This wouldn’t appear to be good news for the coldies amongst us.
  15. Am I right in thinking that El Nino (or La Nina) has little, if any, impact on the weather in Europe?
  16. Cheers guys. I think it was Steve's use of the word "positive" (I read it as 'Positive QBO) that threw me!
  17. Are we looking at an easterly QBO this winter, or westerly?
