  1. Once again the snow comes down, it's awfull, repetitive, damn shame on the southerly tracking jet , hey ho - bang on !
  2. Looks good for the next day or two, here's hoping them showers fall right .
  3. Sssshhhh! Don't tell SUFC but it's snowing moderately outside .
  4. Patience Grasshopper , for the next 48hrs or so this is OUR turn .
  5. Excellent summary there Lewis , very well thought out & with a long fetch Easterly on the cards it's time south of the Humber got in on the act ! Be nice to be on the heavier side of precip .
  6. Might have bottomed out for the next couple of hours as the cloud is encroaching and possibly one or two showers may hit us. .
  7. Good shower this one coming up in the next souple of mins . Gone very dark to the N/E
  8. Benson in Oxfordshire is recording a staggering -15 & -17 DP . Hope you beat your record .
  9. I understand mate, it's not as if this kind of prolonged situation happens every winter ! Snowing lightly again.
  10. Since Net Weather took of the additional overlays on the Radar+, it's making my life a little harder as to which way the uppers are moving , looking at the low in the N.Sea (through Sat24) it does look an impressive feature, it has maintained a western momentum but looks likely it will soon start to move SW as it interacts with forcing from the North, nice rotating loop on it.
  11. Snow had been really light for the last couple of hours but over the last half hour it's pepped up a fair bit, around 6-7cm's of lying snow. The shower activity looks good in the N.Sea and some of them are becoming embedded into the main front, Donny looks to have done really well out of this set up  .
  12. Can't see that happening, i'm hoping the Penines don't suck the life outta it  .
  13. Yes, that one's moving ESE & another around the Scarboro area is moving Southerly according to the 850 upper winds, collision course for the two somewhere slightly north of us, looks very good should the precip intensity keep up on both sides.
  14. Met Office warning issued. Outbreaks of snow will spread southwards today and are likely to give accumulations of 3 to 6 cm, locally 8 to 10 cm in more eastern counties. This will lead to icy patches on untreated surfaces. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads. Issued at: 0417 Tue 5 Jan Possibly they are expecting some developments on the Eastern Side? http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/yh/yh_forecast_warnings.html
  15. Looks very encouraging , see the main precip band in Northern Scotland has got it's act together over the last hour or so, there is a fair bit of cloud showing up on the satelite overview so this maybe a spoiler in temps dropping later.
  16. The 0600hrs NAE Model has the low slightly further North and gives a real mixed bag over the next 24hrs or so, starting of as snow for many then turning to rain, then back to snow!!
  17. Morning peeps bit chilly this am , i'll do a basic breakdown of the 0600hrs GFS run for the next 12hrs starting from midnight tonight. Midnight 850's and precipitation is to the North around the border areas. 0300hrs Tues. Slight warm sector towards the very west of the the region. Possible Rain/Sleet to start with, Snow further East. 850's, Dewpoints & Precip values. 0600hrs Tues. Higher DewPoints coming in down the East Coast. Possible Rain/Sleet Mix here. Snow further west. 0900hrs Tues. Again higher DP's around E/Yorks coast and N.Lincs Coast. Rain/Sleet mix here. Snow further west. 1200hrs Tues. Higher DP'S along N.Lincs coast Rain/Sleet mix here. Snow further west. Obviously this is simply one models synoptic outcome of events that are subject to change, there maybe upgrades for some and downgrades for others but the general idea is there, as ever with these situations a bit of elavation helps, these are very much going to be Nowcast situations so it looks like it could be a fun 2-3 days but a bit bleary eyed model and radar watching! Enjoy it whatever .
