  1. I cant get excited about a Northerly. They are generally rubbish for our region. Cold, sunny and dry. Add an element of East into it, then we are talking.
  2. Here is an interesting question to pass the time and perhaps kick off some interesting discussion... Why is it 9 times out of 10 the "M4" is always quoted as the snow/rain line? Is there a line of giant heaters along the M4 way up in the clouds?....I mean why oh why does it always seem to be the case. Do the lows almost always take the same track etc? It baffles me and pee's me off in equal measure.
  3. **ALERT** *ALERT** Snow shield failed in Southend. At last. The 22 month wait for a flake is over.
  4. Grim eh Paul, but expected. Think I saw a flake about 10mins ago but other than that sleety drizzly stuff
  5. Pretty much as I said earlier on unfortunately. On to the next cold spell.
  6. Looks like a few anaprop signals from the radar this evening!
  7. Sounds about right. Upland areas perhaps double that.
  8. Those out towards Berks/Bucks/Beds/Ox/Northants and those West of the A1 may get a light covering 1-2cm overnight. Other than that it looks like trace amounts for the rest of us I'm afraid. Another letdown but we are used to it now.
  9. Ahh Paul. Hows tricks? Looks like we are out of the game again eh. **looks for next cold spell**
  10. Tonight/Tomorrow to me looks like seeing the PPn pretty much die around West London. Perhaps a smattering further South/East of there inland but not much. I don't expect it to reach me at all. Snow Shield still at 100%.
  11. Morning all. Glad to see some of you in Sussex/Kent have had your snow shield breached. Alas a sunny and hoar frosty morning here on the Essex Riviera and the 22 month wait goes on...
  12. Seems to me that there is no clear sign for any weather type to dominate for the mid-long range period. Alternating between SW/W/NW shots and generally around or a little below average at times. Especially further North. What does interest me is that there **could** be several more slider type opportunities before the month is out, similar to what we have this week. Perhaps with a bit of luck and a disrupted PV allowing some ridging in a favourable area, one of them might do the business good and proper as we move towards and into Feb. Failing that its a winter of average, cool, rinse, repeat. Still better than last winter though I suppose.
  13. Just need to get those DP's down a smidge Tomorrow night into Weds morning and *some* of us may wake up to a light dusting 0-2cm Weds morning. Better than nothing, but very very borderline, especially the further South you are and on the coasts of course.
  14. Yes, as I was just saying in my post above. We have a shot at least. Just the DP's/Temps really that are causing a slight headache, more so for coastal regions (like me) and those further South in our region. Fingers crossed they drop off a smidge and we get a little bit of help from the snow gods. 22 months and counting since a snow flake has been seen in these parts. LOL. Don't write off Sun morn just yet is all I am saying... Forget next week, all eyes on Sun morning....lamposts at the ready from midnight/1am Sun people.
  15. Woah, there are more toys in here than Toys R Us! I still think there is a shot at some white stuff Sun morning for our neck. Just need a bit of luck and those temps and DP's to drop off a smidge.
  16. In the short term I still think that little feature running across the South of the UK Sat night into Sun morning has potential to give a light covering. Just the DP's that are a little marginal, everything else seems to suggest at least a shot at some white stuff. Certainly the further North you are in Southern England. Fingers crossed for the folk in the South, we are certainly due a bit of luck. 22 months without such as a snow flake and counting!
  17. Afternoon all. Well it seems it is playing out as I thought it may last week. Perhaps even a bit earlier if the charts this morn are anything to go by!...a nice upgrade within the medium term for once. I am still thinking look North East as the month of Jan departs for our cold and snowy weather. Still hopeful of some laying snow for our region before Feb. Fingers crossed eh!
  18. Interesting!...slider heading for Biscay. Better wedge of HP to our North.
  19. Evening all. Well, the charts look very poor for coldies at the moment. Rinse and repeat between cooler and milder with wind and rain thrown in. Perhaps an outside shot at some temporary slushy coverings later next week into week 3. End of Jan and into Feb we look now for some potential proper white stuff. I'm taking a punt and will say look towards Scandinavia as we enter February....If that fails then the fat lady will be clearing her throat.
  20. I have been watching the far reaches of lala land for a few days now and I have noticed the tendency for some energy to split from the PV and head in a SE'ly direction into France/Spain. Obviously miles away, but perhaps something to keep an eye on as we head into Mid-Jan, as a possible trigger to something more "interesting"
  21. Keep the faith peeps. Snow will come before Jan is out. This winter already feels a lot different to the last. Just a period of average cool wet and windy conditions to get through first. Patience required as ever...
  22. Was always an outside shot for those of us in Essex/Kent/London and further South. Game over for tonight. Perhaps a shot of some back edge wet snow in the early hours but no more than that. Chance of the odd wintry shower through Sat. Attentions must now turn to the next shot at some of the white stuff as we move into early/mid Jan.
  23. Haha indeed. Hi Jules! I threw the towel in on last winter in Mid-Jan. This winter already feels and looks a lot more interesting... After last "winter" we are due some fun and games and at the moment there are tentative signs that something maybe brewing after Xmas...
  24. Hello again peeps. Back again from a Summer hibernation. So.....who fancies some Snow between Xmas & New Year? Baby steps going in the right direction at the moment....
  25. If there were a chart to sum up "winter" 2013/2014....Then I put forward this beauty.
