  1. Certainly is, but whats new? Its always the same with these huge NE high pressures..sure would be a cold one in the depth of winter, but this time of year it just promotes the said cool dull conditions especially here along the NE coast. I am waiting for the winds of change to blow this muck away and bring in the Atlantic, whether it comes from SW,W or NW, I dont care......Tis playing havoc with my 'cluster' cycle this time around..!
  2. It is becoming more apparent that changes in daylight does play a role in the brain in producing serotonin. I suffer with a debilitating illness/disease that only affects me during late August into September and occasionally between April/May. Although my condition is not understood well neurologists believe there is correlation between daylight and serotonin levels.
  3. The "BEAST' is again back with me. This bout started a couple of weeks earlier (11th of August) and now its becoming intolerable, I've now had over 100 attacks and gone through 16 injections and countless bottles of oxygen...when will it end........I've been offered the occipital nerve block procedure but the thought of having over 30 injections to the neck and scalp is somewhat off putting to say the least and many reports saying you get 2 weeks reprieve ( if it works) at most is not the result I would have hoped for...  Anyway going by my past experiences with this condition I will be coming out of this cycle in the next few weeks and then my life can start again and get on with building my catering business adventure..
  4. If the proposed 'fracking' goes ahead i fear this will lead to greater chances of these 'sinkholes' occuring.
  5. ESTOFEX have issued a level 1 for tornado possibilities around southern Uk. http://www.estofex.org/ Over UK, there is very weak LL shear forecast in the afternoon hours but a weak background flow should support some spout-type tornadoes.
  6. Ah.. so they're to blame for AGW...!! Couple of strikes just to the south of my location within the last 10-15mins. ©Netweather 5min radar
  7. I remember all this too. Getting a walloping off my parents for ripping the net curtain in my bedroom because it was stuck within the ice on the window when I tried to see how much snow had fallen, rubbing away a tiny spy-hole on the iced up window. In the morning i used to grab all my clothes and put them inside the bed with me to warm them up. Collecting 5 gallon of paraffin and dragging it home on my sledge, at least the fumes off the paraffin heaters helped you to sleep in the cold hash winters of the 70's... And no my heating aint on and wont be for quite some time..!!
  8. That's not the same photo, check out the tail fin, more of Ryanairs symbol (the harp) can be seen on one compared to the other and Ryanair have over 300 737,s and they all look the same.
  9. I just realized that I'd put this in the moaning thread.. .. I'm not moaning as the cloudscapes were fantastic. Cheers Vlad, yeah when i saw the forecast I had second thoughts about travelling to the west but when I looked at the charts and saw that 'bloody' easterly breeze I knew we had no hope, although my brother who works in Sunderland did observe one lightning strike.
  10. I took a trip away from the eastern side ( although ESTOFEX had a level1for eastern UK) to visit relatives over in Whitehaven, a small sea-side town in Cumbria. Storm clouds were building very quickly as we skirted around the lake district, but left them behind as we approached the west coast. Uneventful in Whitehaven but it was sunny and warm. We left around 6pm and as we drove inland the storm clouds came into view. I only observed one Cg but I'm sure there were more but being on the move they were difficult to see. Morning convection over the lake district. The journey back.
  11. Ex Bertha wont be remembered here in Tyne & Wear. A bit breezy and wet for August for sure but nothing outstanding.
  12. Northeast England got off lightly again last night with no high rainfall, the winds picked up slightly but again not noteworthy. The winds this morning ,however, are on the increase. Doubt if we record 60mph here on the coast, but still quite a windy day for August.!! http://www.southshields-weather.co.uk/Today%27s_weather.htm
  13. Yeah nothing at all remarkable in our region, dull, persistent rain and not a breath of wind. Temperatures are disappointing here in South Shields currently at 14.7℃. Should start to brighten up soon and heavy thunderstorms already SW of York could sneak into our region. Possible fun and games with regards to the wind strength later (midnight onwards?) could gust over 60mph around the coasts and possibly 70 over the hills (Pennines, Cheviots). http://sat24.com/en/gb ©Netweather 5min radar.
  14. I think it'll be fine as long as no monies are made from his image. He posted it to RadarEU and they splashed it on Facebook. As long as credit is given to Mr Andrew Cogan I dont think it will be an issue.
  15. It certainly does, you can clearly see the RFD to the left.
  16. Yesterdays storms produced what looks like a possible tornado up here in the North. Around 3pm Andrew Cogan caught a possible tornado as it brushed through Haltwhistle, a small town along the A69 between Carlisle and Newcastle.
  17. Another fantastic trip again this year for you, capturing those amazing supercells. Upsetting that the Pilger twin tornadoes caused so much devastation to the town and killing two people in the process, still it could have been a lot worse if it wasnt for the early warnings from chasers like yourselves.
  18. Thanks Paul for your quick response.. Oh I hope its sorted soon... Anyway I think the storms have now diminished so nothing to watch at the moment.
  19. Hi Paul and team, Ive been watching NW radar earlier and noticed it had not updated, I then logged out but when I tried to log back in it refuses to open the radar. I know my subscription is to run out sometime this month could this be the reason and its actually today that it expires?.. ... its trying but no still no radar.
  20. The radar return is still showing some bright echoes but I fear your right in saying the electrical element is, if not fading away. They never looked like they'd reach me here right on the coast.. Last strikes down north yorkshire around Ripon.. http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page_0=12
  21. Pretty defined wall cloud there so I'd not be surprised to see at least a funnel.. Theres a storm approaching this region hope it can hold together. NW 5min radar.
  22. Front (Occluded?) has now passed through.. half a dozen thunderclaps and one very close strike accompanied with 'shotgun' thunder. Not a great thunderstorm but what was impressive was the convection behind the core of the storm. I have footage of it but finding compatability software between my galaxy s2 and apple mac is proving to be quite a pain..
  23. He's at it again...please please lock this lunatic up..!!! http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/494438/End-of-world-alert-solar-flares-destroy-earth-scientists-warn Theres a 12% chance of one occuring in the next decade...but theres 88% chance that it wont.!!
  24. Finally we join the rest of the country in sunshine and warmth, at least we get one day of summer before the forecasted 'cool-down'.. http://www.southshields-weather.co.uk/Today%27s_weather.htm
