Hey what a great spell of hot weather..Everywhere but the North East.. Again the low cloud and mist shrouds the coast, the sun almost won but its first round to the mist.. Ding ding, seconds out round two...c'mon sunshine...!!! http://www.southshields-weather.co.uk/Today%27s_weather.htm http://sat24.com/en/gb

We scraped 19.2℃, could have been a little higher if the sun was out for more than just 10 mins, yes the sun made an appearance albiet very brief..

Yeah, it can and does get frustrating, but when the westerly regime resumes everybody starts to complain about falling temperatures when actually they rise here.. Still it would be fun to join in with the rest of the country but that' aint never gonna happen' in an easterly unless we refloat Doggerland..!!

I'd have to agree that 27℃in your bedroom is to much, I work as a chef and on the rare occasion that it does get hot outside, the working environment becomes unbearable. Luckily for us folk right on the coast of NE England we rarely exceed the low 20's which is fine by me. On the up-side of being a chef its lovely and warm in the winter months... Half an hour ago here in 'sunny shields'... http://www.southshields-weather.co.uk/Today%27s_weather.htm

Model Banter, Moans and Ramps Spring/Summer 2014
NL replied to phil nw.'s topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Aye it is a hard pill to swallow when these slack high pressure systems sit over us and drag low cloud and 'haar' to the east especially the coastline. Cant be sure if it'll burn off right along the coastline but has readily burnt off inland. The low cloud here in the NE has been thick enough to produce a steady drizzle earlier but I can see 'brightness'..here's hoping... Wish there had never been an ice age and created the North Sea..wonder how the weather would be like if Doggerland was still there? Latest satellite image Sat24.com -

Deleted link doesn't work. But this one does.. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=761205637275709&fref=nf Very close lightning strike.. -
Although we're thankful for the sea breeze initiating the storm clouds as it converges with low level winds coming in from the west it seems evident that the breeze has choked out the low level inflow and starving any storms that have initiated along the CZ. Hopefully the chance of an isolated storm increases as the CZ is forced east around 4-6pm around coastal areas.

Thought I was being a tad optimistic..2 strikes and that was that.. The earlier Swindon cell that gave a good show through Birmingham through the midlands is now just a sad small bag of water.. NetWeather 5 min radar.

ESTOFEX. Of particular concern are areas of reduced vertical mixing, which allow a moisture accumulation and the maintenance of enhanced low-level shear and helicity. This can be expected along the sea breeze front in Northern France and Belgium, and in general in Eastern England, where warm air advection re-intensifies on the forward flank of a weak surface low which is forecast to track from Northwestern France (06 UTC) into Northern England (18 UTC). If diurnal heating and/or the lift impulse by outflow boundaries suffice to break the capping inversion in these regions, particularly well-organized supercells could spawn a few tornadoes, possibly even including a strong one. However, mesoscale developments need to be awaited before the degree of this threat can further be specified. Despite remaining uncertainties due to downstream effects of overnight's vigorous storms, a level 2 seems to be warranted.

I thought that but i saw them develop on the webcam and they looked very suspiciously like two funnels.

Possible breach of the cap along wind convergence at 500hpa? Could be a bit premature if they decide to open the roof on centre court. -
Congrats on your ton Paul..!! and what a way to do it.. Lots of chasers on the storms that ripped through Pilger Nebraska. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Pilger+tornado

Truly amazing.!! Outstanding storm motion. The cascading clouds at the rear of the storm are particularly spectacular and then a 'dusty' tornado pops up...wow.. -
