  1. When will they learn that they aint no such thing as a 'mini tornado'..!!!!!!!
  2. Thunderstorms are forecast to effect quite a large portion of England and Wales (50+%) and a level1 issued for most of Ireland and northern parts, only the far SW and South Central and South East have a lower chance put around 15% . http://www.estofex.org/
  3. Waiting for the sun to reappear as its only 15℃ at the moment. We did manage 17℃ around 9am then the heavy thundery showers came rolling in. Looking at the visible satellite images showing clearer skies incoming but that in turn will probably induce vigorous convection creating thunderstorms and torrential downpours, not that I'm complaining though..!!
  4. Just 40 mile up the road and its been torrential here, frequent heavy downpours accompanied with booming thunder..
  5. Yesterday ESTOFEX issued a level 3 warning for Northern Italy for Tornadoes, warnings were well founded as up to 11 unconfirmed reports of tornadoes hit that area. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nhPOpn7eMg Looks like Ive put the wrong month in the title should have been July..yesterday..!!!!!
  6. First crack of thunder heard here and its only 9:44am..!!
  7. Definitely taking a hammering around Scarborough and Bridlington areas. http://www.bridlingtonweather.co.uk/live_lightning.html
  8. Aye and showers that develop will be slow moving and likely to deposit a fair amount of rain or small hail. Very humid and sultry evening to come, another 'sweatbed' for me again tonight.!!

    Swifts

My house has been visited regular for many years by swifts I wont fix the the entrance which is a slightly lifted tile just above the eves, always have been my favourite feathered friend..
  10. Well the worst type of weather is here... North sea dross, temperatures pegged back to 17℃ with low cloud no sun. Bring on the westerlies!!!!
  11. Good luck to all you central/southern storm lovers today. We had high CAPE and lifted index and even wind convergence up here in the NE but still no storms fired up. Difficult business this storm forecasting malarkey!!
  12. G'day watcher I once pondered over this too. Its simple really Newtons third law "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". The rocket actually pushes against its own fuel! http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1846/how-do-rockets-work-in-the-vacuum-of-space
  13. Possible storms tomorrow up here in the favoured North East. A weak cold front sliding down the North Sea and with CAPE values around 1000+j/Kg and Li around -4 any storms that may break out could be quite severe. Ireland looking particularly good for storms!
  14. British Airways receive the first of seven Airbus A380's the worlds largest commercial passenger airline today.
  15. Hopefully those showers coming from the NW can intensify as the cross into southern Northumberland/Tyne and Wear as the 6z GFS models instability till around 6pm then dying away as diurnal heating subsides.
  16. A little to west to have any impact here right on the coast, the storm is just skirting off to the SW.
  17. Its coming my way and I can hear distant rumbles to the west/north west. Storm number 3?
  18. Storm number two has just passed through with both CG's and C to C lightning observed directly overhead on several occasions, accompanied with torrential downpours. Cracking little storm.
  19. Very weak storm passed through just to the SW of here with a few cracks of thunder. Plenty of heavy/thunder showers to come this afternoon with bright echoes continuing to show on the rainfall radar.
  20. Interesting developments tomorrow regarding some potentially severe weather, possible tornadoes one or two long tracked if all the parameters come together at the right time. One to watch.

    Super Tornado

As expected I've seen most of the actual tornado footage but what I hadn't seen is the heartbreaking interviews with the victims especially the teachers account when the schools took a direct hit, as a parent myself I felt very emotional thinking how defenceless the children's parents would have been as news came through that the schools had been destroyed. Overall a well presented and documented programme.
