  1. Unbelievable day in Manchester today- clear from the word go and only a few clouds appearing later in the afternoon. A max of 13C is truly remarkable on a clear day in December. Walking around the city centre you'd never have believed it was December today without the lights and markets. People hardly wrapped up at all and some going without jackets.
  2. What a truly stunning day here today- almost unbroken sunshine and incredibly mild feeling with light winds. Got up to 13C this afternoon. Definitely the mildest sunny day I can remember in December.
  3. December has been truly woeful so far- even by UK standards. The amount of cold rain we seem to get in modern winters is astounding. Is it too much to ask for a couple of dry, bright days? Mild or cold, I don't care- just desperate for some relief from the constant misery. At least the outlook is for some sort of high pressure build. The ECM looks ideal to me in the latter stages. As I say, I don't care what we get as long as it's dry.
  4. Yes really surprising. It basically means the month will be looked at in the record books as an average month. Yet for me it's one of the most memorable mild Novembers- certainly the first 3 weeks.
  5. That's a ridiculous adjustment. I'd like to hear an explanation for that. There seems to be a big bias these days towards making months significantly cooler at the end of the month. A final figure that doesn't anywhere near reflect what a mild first 3 weeks or so we had. Not only did it feel unusually mild, it was also very dry and benign. A rather rare combination for November.
  6. Yes although the cold start wasn't anything to write home about- we've only had one day all month so far that hasn't reached double figures. It really has been remarkably consistent since that early spell. Also plenty of dry, windless days which is rather unusual given it's been so mild. A couple of days that felt surprisingly warm in the sun for the time of year too (today was one of them).
  7. I find it amusing that people are desperate to get rid of the current weather and happy to welcome in some cold rain. It's a beautiful day here today with very little wind, plenty of sun and feeling very pleasant at 14C. I have no problem with things turning cooler now but please can it be dry with it.
  8. I've been in Northamptonshire today and it was really remarkably mild feeling this afternoon in the sunshine. One of the warmest feeling days I can remember this late in November with barely any wind and surprisingly warm feeling sun. Temps must have been around 13C which felt warmer in the sun.
  9. It looks like continuing mild now, and probably rather cloudy so not much hope of cold nights either. Perhaps something cooler for the final third of the month, but the CET will be well above average by then.
  10. The only way is up now for the foreseeable future I feel. Nothing cold on the horizon at all.
  11. Not sure if this has been mentioned in here, but it's noticeable how there are a lot more leaves than usual still on the trees here for this stage in November- many of them still green.
  12. I don't think there's ever been a warm month you haven't played down in some way Damian! We did exceed 20C here which doesn't happen every year by any means. Plenty of rain but also plenty of decent, mild/warm days too here. The 16th warmest since 1659 so certainly very notable.
  13. It must have been cooler in the south as it only very briefly dropped below 15C here yesterday morning- and then didn't drop below 15C again until after midnight.
  14. I don't have the figures but yesterday must have been over 16C CET wise? It does seem strange there was no rise.
  15. Very odd there hasn't been a rise after yesterday. We haven't dropped below 14C here at all in the last 48 hours.
  16. Another warm month looks very likely now- no prolonged cooler weather is in the offing at all
  17. Surprised it's not lower than this, it's certainly one of the coldest feeling starts to October I can remember. The cloud cover has meant no cold nights really, but by day it has felt very cold. Saturday was a truly horrible day here- mostly cold, wet and windy. It almost feels like we've skipped autumn here and gone straight from summer into winter. Glad to see something more seasonal (it's still only the first week of October) by Wednesday.
  18. It does mean September was warmer than August though (just). Joining the likes of 2006 and 2014 in the list. Seems to be happening more often than it used to.
  19. Disappointing that it dropped below 16C in the end, I'm surprised at how big the adjustments are at the moment.
  20. A really poor run- offers very little no matter what your preference. Probably won't produce many cold nights even due to the cloud cover I find it amazing that some people in here were wishing for this change- now we have 7 months potentially of cool, unsettled weather ahead of us.
  21. Still 16.9C today- this spell coming up probably scuppers any chance of challenging 2006 though.
  22. Great to see a rise so late in the month- quite something given we're at such a high figure already.
  23. Maxima have been well above average here- averaging 21.2C with 17 days above 20C before today. I'd say the maxima have been just as notable. Also the 28.2C here on the 8th is the highest September temp I can find in the records for this area.
  24. It's been a remarkably consistent month so far- 17 days above 20C here and today is likely to make that 18. Manchester Airport has only had 4 nights in single figures as well. That may change from tomorrow on but it's been notable how warm the mornings have been.
  25. Overnight min at Manchester Airport of 17C- pretty impressive for late September.
